Order a size up and get a great jacket!
First off, order a size up from what you think you should. I'm kind of between XL and 2XL normally, so I went for the 2XL and found the jacket a little snug. That's all right in my case as I'm getting closer to XL every day, but if there was any doubt I'd have wanted bigger. That said, the jacket is overall excellent. Holes allow some breathability, but still keep you dry in the Pacific Northwest's trademark rain. Stitching is excellent, packability is excellent if requiring just a little effort to get the thing stuffed into its own pocket. The white stripe which looks more gray in person is very retroreflective without making you feel like you're wearing a safety vest. The red is a little brighter than it looks in the product photo, but the hue is true to what you see.The cuffs are half elastic and half velcro, and the velcro seems like it's holding up pretty well after many months of wear. The collar does not detach via zipper, but can be rolled up under the collar and velcroed in place, which is how I usually wear the thing because I wear a big-brimmed hat pretty much year round, material chosen for the season…The one thing I wish the jacket had was an open-top document pocket inside the thing. It doesn't really because the one interior pocket is both very small and opens to the side. You can kind of make it work by opening the embroidery access zipper and dropping the paper you want to keep dry into it, but it's not really made for that and I wouldn't make a habit of using it that way even if I've found it a useful field expedient solution to carrying a letter-sized envelope through our famous liquid sunshine and having it be dry at the other end of the trip. The jacket is not very warm when it's cold out, but I intentionally wanted JUST a water/wind barrier when I bought the thing, and that's what I got. It served me through spring and fall, but now that winter is upon me I'm going to have to start wearing something with more insulating properties. Sadly this 2XL shell just isn't 2Xy enough for me to wear a fleece vest under it, or I'd be happy with it for most of a mild winter. If the sizing were more realistic, this would be a 5 star jacket in its price range. Take it from a guy who also wears a $300 3-in-1 system: This thing is well-made for the money.

Keeps the rain and wind out well
This jacket is good as a light windbreaker while I'm biking, but also serves as a rainjacket in bad storms. As a dogwalker in all types of weather, I need several pockets for treats and bags, so I appreciate the two outer pockets and two interior pockets. The exterior hand pockets have the zippers zipping up instead of down. I guess it makes it more rainproof? But it means that opening the pockets from the bottom allows items to slip out. The right side interior pocket can fit a phone and closes by velcro. The left side interior pocket has a tiny hidden zipper which opens up the entire interior between the shell and the mesh lining You can store items in there, but they will drift and tend to get in the back center. It's still useful for some items. I walk my dog in the rain, and I need pockets for all sorts of things. More pockets!

15 Years of Use - Only a Flood Cut Life Short
I have used the jacket as the primary spring and fall jacket for 15 plus years. It held up well. Only a flood resulting in mold stopped it. Lightweight, compact and rain resistant are its strength. The only con is that lighter colors are no longer available. The new jacket construction seems to be every bit as good as the one it replaced.

Great lightweight windbreaker/jacket
Edit: 9-30-20 I've purchased several of these jackets. But the one I recently bought has been change a bit. Most notably, the pockets have been decreased so that you can no longer zip the jacket into the pocket, which was a valuable feature to me. It also seem to be of a slightly lighter material. Still a good value IMO if you can get it for $25 or less.Great lightweight windbreaker/jacket. Cuffs are sealable, has hood with draw string and draw string for waist. Breaks they wind, and keeps me quite warm wearing a sweatshirt under it. It has kept me dry in the rain, though I haven't been in a torrential down pour. If needed I'd hit it with 303 fabric protectant. Hood rolls up in jacket when not needed. Jacket folds into pocket into approx 6"x6"x2" bag. I'm 6'4 200 lbs and the 2xl fits perfectly.

WATERPROOF great jacket
Bought an extra small (XS) for my trip to Costa Rica and I was greatly surprised at how well this jacket performed. I am 135 lbs 5'7" and it fit me very well. I would advise though if you plan to wear a backpack underneath your jacket you might want to size up maybe 1-2 sizes because I am relatively slim and with XS I could barely fit my Rouge camelbak underneath. I wore it through light to moderate rainfall for over 3-4 hours and it kept my body dry as a bone. After a few hours of being soaked in the rain, there was a bit of moisture/wetness seeping through my arms though. It wasn't exactly "packable" in that if folds into itself, but you can tightly roll it up as with any lined windbreaker type jacket. The hood is designed very well and has a nice front lip on it and does the whole thing folds into the collar. If you are in the market for a light weight rain jacket, you can't beat this Viking jacket which costs almost 3-4 times less than comparable jackets.

I love this jacket
This is the second Viking Windigo jacket that I have owned. I purchased the first one, identical to this one, several years ago for a trip to the Amazon. Since then, I have found it the ideal weight for typical San Francisco weather. I loved it with two exceptions. The first was that the pull from the bottom zipper fell off. Not a big deal because I seldom unzipped the bottom. This was just a bit aggravating because it failed. The second problem occurred when a seam failed in the back shoulder area. If that seam had not failed, I could have gotten at least another year of wear out of the jacket. I downgraded my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars as a result. Perhaps I am too harsh. In any case, I did receive what I thought to be good wear from the original jacket over several years. The new jacket, as I said, is the identical model, color, and fit. I love it.

MEN'S, WOMEN'S OR NON-GENDER SPECIFIC?
I already own one of these jackets and love it. So now that I need a size larger I figure why not buy a similar one.The price was right, the delivery was ahead of schedule (thank you), the jacket was as described during the purchasing process....BUT.....WITH THE ZIPPER ON THE WRONG SIDE..I needed it right away so I decided to wear it and order a new one. Problem is - how do I know that I won't get the same faulty jacket?. It is listed, after all, as a men's lined jacket.

Awesome quality and value
Absolutely awesome wind jacket. The ONLY suggestion I would make to the manufactures is that if the front pockets zipped upward instead of downward (like most jackets) items in the pockets would NOT fallout as easily when the pocket is only partially closed. Great idea to have the ability of a hidden left front pocket pack pouch.

Excelente producto
Me sorprendió la chaqueta, aparte de servirte para la lluvia conserva el calor del cuerpo si la cierras, también actúa como rompe vientos y te protege del aire frío.

Bigger than expected, but otherwise great.
Inexpensive and effective raincoat. My one complaint would be that, having bought this to be ultra-portable for a trip, it does not pack down as small as I had hoped. Despite this, it worked very well when it was needed!
