Barbie and The Secret Door Transforming 2-in-1 Fairy Doll

So there's the shipping box. Emme opens it. Inside in neon pink tissue paper (added) is this neon-bright fairy ice-skater ballerina princess, who flew right to Emme's heart. And around the table. And with open wings then folded shut wings. And performing a leap. And....This beautiful Barbie-friend flew into my heart too because--the flexible hinging that permits arms positioning from down to fully raised and the legs positioned in jettes, pirouettes, and Cirque du Soleil-like moves so she can be a fairy, a ballerina, an ice-skater, a princess and more--the colors are intense, much better than the pale almost washout picture on the site. The green wings are really green, the peach wings almost orange and the purple a shimmering deeper color than shown. So is the dress, happy-making, sun-bright, gorgeous colors.--the quality is fine. Sturdy transparent plastic (?) wings with charming perforations such as wee hearts. The multi-layered dress is neatly cut, well put together, and the fairy boots are stylin' orange, not your fairy godmother boots--the figure is lissome, attractive & good, as a fairy should be but without the overly bosomy, wasp-waisted body. The facial expression is friendly, warm, smiling & adorably sweet. Long softer-than-usual hair.--the wing open and shut mechanism holds up to a lot of folding & unfolding by a three year old. Easy to use.LOVE this doll & at the price, a terrific value.Any buyers alerts? I am not sure if the boots and skirt come off. Skirt maybe but probably not the boots so if changing costumes and dresses is big must must must have, then check before buying perhaps. The wings, says Emme, would fly better with glitter. Glue and glitter could easily be added.OVERALL: This fairy ice-skater ballerina princess ignites imagination, a doll for adventures and stories. A passive person to dress & undress, not so much but it sure has opened a wide magical world of possibilities! Highly recommended if an imaginative fairy would make your perfect person happy.

Cons: wings do not detach, so other than use as a fairy she won't be interchangeable in outfits. Daughters were quick to point out in the movie she has a bun, hard to do given the thickness of doll hair so mattel opted for a side ponytail. Bodice is part of her body form, not removable.Pros: we love love love that she has a different look than typical barbie, the dark hair and brows, shorter hair length. Her dress has beautiful 3d details. Hair is super soft, does not have the sticky residue that mattel usually put in barbie hair.

We got this doll for my daughter for her 3rd birthday and she absolutely loved it. Really pretty, bright colors, and looks very much like the Nori character from the movie, if your child is into details (as mine is!). I was originally worried that is would be difficult for her to operate the fold down/pop back open wings, but it is so easy for her to do and seems very sturdy and not likely to break. Would definitely purchase again.

The doll I just received is NOT the doll that is pictured on Amazon or on the box. The pics show a doll that has a "young, teenage shaped face" which is what I wanted. The doll that was included in the box has a fully matured woman's face, which is not what I wanted. This feels a bit like a bait and switch tactic. I'd return the doll but my daughter watched me open the Amazon box and she is too excited to start playing with it, so I guess I have to keep it.

The pop up wings button broke quickly, first time playing.

This was a tremendous hit with my grandniece. The wings are very intuitive as my niece got the concept before I could read the directions. Winds can be arranged in several configurations which my niece loves. Winds also can be made part o off the dress so she can appear to be human. This doll will get hundreds of hours of play.

Very pretty, well made and my 5 yr.niece loved it along with the other 3 dolls from The Secret Door for Christmas!
