A team of highly skilled Navy SEALS find themselves embarking on the battle of their lives when they come face-to-face with the undead. After a deadly outbreak occurs in New Orleans, the SEALS must fight for their lives, and the city, against an army of zombies.

“Elvis is in the building” but not literally.
True. There are zombies. And Navy Seals. The Vice President needs to be rescued from said zombies. A reporter wants to tag along and film said zombies. A scientist with no cure needs to be liberated from said zombies. Things do not go according to plans. The problem with this movie is that it takes forever to introduce the zombies that got second billing in the title. Yap-yap-yap before the biters finally put in an appearance. My interest lagged a number of times. A delegation of my brain cells demanded hazard pay before they would continue watching this muck, they lost, I watched it to the bitter end. I will not have my brain cells protesting my viewing choices! That’s mutiny!

That's three brains on the Zombie movie scale, not on the regular movie scale.
I hate fast Zombies. Fast Zombies can cross the dead ground around the survivor much too quickly for the still-living human to react. Especially if six or twenty-three Zombies attack at once. But that aside, this one point two million dollar Zombie flick is not terrible. It is not great either but we Zombie film fanciers can put up with a lot. Here, in spite of a genuine budget and actual actors, we have a lot to put up with. The acting occasionally comes up to professional standards, but for the most part, the acting is crapy. The dialog among and between the SEALS is pretty lame and not convincing. The guns are very good but the use of them is more of what a movie guy who had never served (or had not watched a high-quality war movie) would think a soldier would do rather than what a soldier would actually do. Example-a SEAL with a rifle and a pistol knifes a Zombie for no reason except that the director thought it would look cool. Some of the scenes seem like they were improvised, both in action and in dialog. And so on. The Zombie actors on the other hand did quite well. Naturally, they didn't do much except rush at people, knock them down and munch them, but hey, it is what fast Zombies do. The minimalist Zombie make-up was fine and the relentless speed of the Zombies gave the audience a good idea of how hard it would be to survive a Zombie Apocalypse. No, I didn't hate it. I appreciate how difficult it is to make a movie, even a Zombie movie. The movie guys tried hard here, they just missed the ball. A sincere try counts a lot for me. This would fall in the range of films as better than Zombeavers but not as good as Outpost. Director Stanton Barrett has some 200 credits as a stuntman on his sheet but only one movie director cred. This one is best seen by Zombie flick fans like me who will forgive a great deal.

Really not as bad as some people say.
First off let me tell you that I seem to like this film more than most people. That's not an especially high recommendation however, since most people seem to really hate this movie in an almost taking it personal way, though I notice it's not as trashed here as badly as in other places. Why? I won't say it's a good film, and it's loaded with minor bad issues and mistakes. Let's just call it an OK, minor, by-the-numbers, action-zombie type film. Something to put on on a very slow day or late at night, but not prime viewing. But the hatred is vehement.I think most potential fans, given the title, were expecting a really big action film here and instead they get five Navy Seals, two reporters and a few extra people here and there. There's definitely an expectations issue here. This is especially true of zombie films, which seemingly have no bottom level beyond which they can't sink. The people who hate this film, who call it "the worst zombie movie ever made" or " the lowest budget zombie flick ever" simply haven't seen many zombie movies.I've been on a crazy quest to see as many of the zombie movies that have been made as I can, and this is number 64. I feel I can honestly say there are a lot of worse zombie movies than this one. Actors who have obviously never acted before. Actors who shout every line. Zombies most often indicated by a little fake blood on the face. Plots that become nearly incoherent. And budgets? I've seen zombie films with budgets listed as $5,000.00, at $800.00; by comparison, this movie looks like it had a James Cameron budget.. The critics of low budget zombie films are spoiled by Hollywood movies that cost five to twenty million and TV episodes that cost a million or two. They are used to people who can act, at least on a low end TV level and scripts that are written bt relatively competent people. But once you get to a certain level of zombie flick, none of that is there and this is a culture shock to some viewers who simply take a certain level of general competence for granted. The listed budget for this film is $5,000,000.00, so it's in the average low-end Hollywood region. you see this on the screen. The main helicopter is real. The State Capitol building of Louisiana is actually used in the scenes, or at least its grounds and reasonable mock ups of its interior. The camera work is competent. The actors are OK, good enough for this type of film. The effects include too much CGI however, so I'm assuming the actors, State Capitol Building and post production work ate up most of the budget. But still, it looks OK.This doesn't mean the movie doesn't have problems. Why are the Navy seals so overweight and why are they all dark haired guys with beards so it's hard to tell them apart? Why are the "zombies" (for the record these are infected not the undead) super fast and strong sometimes and slow and shambling other times? Why send only five guys to rescue the Vice President of the United States? And then there's one incident about two thirds through the film that will blow your mind in its stupidity. A true WTF moment and obviously just needed for the plot. But with all that it's still an OK film for what it is and is worth seeing if you don't expect much. That's not exactly a high recommendation, but there it is.

It was obviously made in a hurry....
The Vice President of the USA has gone missing in Baton Rouge where there has been an unexpected uprising with reports of terrible violence. It soon becomes clear that there is some type of zombie plague responsible and a crack team of Navy Seals is despatched to extract the VP from the area. This isn't a bad idea for a zombie film and the story is actually reasonably coherent, with satisfactory explanation given for the outbreak, a fair story of the Navy Seals being dropped in, executing their mission and then being evacuated out. It also has a real ending which ties everything up quite well. But unfortunately the idea didn't translate nearly as well to screen as it could have. The issue would most likely have been budget (or lack thereof). The whole production screams 'rushed' and pretty much everything feels cheap. It's a shame as there are a few reasonable actors who just weren't able to do anything much with their roles. The digital effects are surprisingly ordinary (lots of really fake black smoke on display and terrible digital blood regularly being sprayed over the camera lens) and worst of all the zombies almost look like an afterthought. The Director seems to have forgotten that it is important to make sure the zombies behave in a certain way but a lot of the time they just seem like a group of confused people running around. Probably a more experienced Director would have helped this production a lot.The disk has both Dolby Stereo and 5.1 Surround tracks and the 5.1 I listened to was adequate but hardly inspiring. The awful score didn't help the situation here.

Not bad of a film!
The zombie movie was ok in some parts and good in others. It could have been improved if there were a sequel to the movie but having said that it was grand!
