A great saw.
A great machine. Sturdy, powerful, loaded with all the extras you want. Was cutting window trim the other day and needed to cut greater than 45 degrees. This saw does it. I can cut 10 inch boards no problem. I love the laser light. I double checked the accuracy and it was calibrated exactly right out of the box. This saw has the screw holes needed for trim cutting attachments, which I bought on Amazon. It's a quiet saw as saws go. I've had many over the years. And it's powerful. Comes with a dust collector bag and vacuum hose attachment. Has screw holes necessary for attaching to a saw stand. You'll be happy with this saw.

Awesome saw, can no longer live without it!
This is the first power saw I have ever bought for myself. I've used a few, and am usually stuck with a circular saw, so this has been VERY FUN to work with. The first day, I was literally giddy, and was sawing wood for every small project I had been putting off due to needing a saw that was more accurate. I have, with the help of videos online, learned to cut crown molding, it goes through even 2x6s like a hot knife through soft butter. I am absolutely in love with this saws accuracy. The laser guide is amazing and I'm glad I got a saw that had it. It's super simple to adjust for angles and bevels, everything slides easily and is very intuitive to use. I didn't even have to read the instructions, which us ladies are known for. Its heavy to pick up, 88lbs. Im planning to mount it anyway, so I don't mind.

Coming From Kapex... Good Overall. Could slide a lot better. Dust collection inexistant.
Overall pretty happy with the saw. I had the Festool Kapex before so it was definitely a downgrade for me but after fine tuning it this saw can get you the same precision as the Festool. The first one I received from Amazon had a run out in the slide although the blade was square with the fence - something that people should look at because it seems to happen to many saws and people dont notice. I got the second one from the local hardware store and I might swap it yet again just to see if I can get a better sliding one.The dust collection is pretty much useless so I had to make a massive dust booty for it and now I would say its about the same as the Kapex - so that can be fixed. What is not fixable is the bad slide, it just isn't smooth no matter how much I oil it or use WD40, so that is definitely a big source of annoyance specially since I'm used to a lot smoother. And yes I know how to adjust the allan key on the side: which actually results in two things: totally locked if tighten or just the regular non uniform, non smooth slide. I tried the new Makita the other day and they glide like perfect, so I dont understand why Hitachi cant do a nice slide, both units I received require way to much force to make them slide and its uneven too, I get a lot of resistance in the mid point and a lot less at either ends.

Decent saw
This is my second Hitachi miter saw. I needed to upgrade to a larger cut saw. I have had this saw for a few months. And I did not want to review it until I had done a good amount of cutting. The saw works exceptionally well. I had to do some minor set up adjustments to get it cutting prefect. But most wood cutting machinery from the factory needs some adjustment. This unit is a bit more compact than the larger DeWalt or Ridged Saws. I do not anticipate cutting 16 inch boards so the 12 inch capacity is enough for me. Compound cuts are accurate. The motor has plenty of power for the cutting I do. Setting the angle cuts is fast. With the sliding arm, I can put the blade on the pencil mark, lift up a bit, And hit the trigger and cut. To me its faster than turning on the laser. If you do not need to cut larger than 12 inch boards. This miter saw will do just fine. And it's a lot less than the other saws.

Hitachi is now Metabo. Awesome saw.
Got the saw in today and at first I saw the name metabo and thought I got the wrong saw. Apparently hitachi is now metabo and all hitachi will now be called metabo. Anyways about the saw I got it out and love how the laser is on the saw. My kobalt was behind the guard and on the wrong side of the blade this one is on the left and not blocked by the guard. I squared up the blade (it was pretty close out of the box even with the box looking pretty beat up). I’m supper happy I spent the extra and got this instead of the 10”. This one had better reviews and it looks like a quality saw.

Bad design / production flaws In general.
Laundry list of problems here:- saw runs into plastic guides when beveled over.- came with blemishes from the factory. Rolling stand even has a giant completely darker grey paint on one part of the railing.-laser disappears behind guard when cutting.- bevel stop is super Jenny and will slip if you don't really wrench it down with will wear out surely over a short time.- saw actually can't do a complete bevel in either direction fully because it hits the blade guard, which isn't removable( its cast on) and hits the rail fence rail.- Super heavy and cumbersome in general to operate. Feels dangerouse.-isn't made to fit on the stand it is paired with at all. Stand must be for smaller saws.-bad deal all togather.Just received it put it to gather, cut one pice of wood with it for the sake of it and started putting it back I the box. I could take pictures and go on and on.I am a finish carpenter and this wouldn't even begin to meet my needs. I still wouldnt recomend it to a DIY'r either. I was hoping if it didn't seem like a decent job site saw I would just stick it in my shop to use on the weekends. It seemed like a good deal. Very disapointed. The flaws are too much to over look. And worst, it honestly seemed dangerous. Powerfull, true. But, dangerously and poorly constructed.

It would be a great saw if it would true up
I am having so much problems with this saw,, there is no adjustment anywhere to make, that you can Square the blade from the top to bottom, I’m cutting 5” crown molding with the face flush to the fence the cut is 3/32” out of a true 45 Deg, tried some fixit videos but I can not get it square, glad I purchased Square trade insurance, I’m affraid it has to go back
