No, 24" is the overall height. Sitting it's about 14" tall.

has anyone tried washing Maxie in the washing machine?

I have washed a Gund "Dylan" (which is almost identical and also says "surface wash") in the washing machine numerous times and it has been 100% fine. Did it on "delicates" cycle and then put in dryer on low.
