VIZIO SB4051-D5 review
The sound bar arrived and i eagerly began to assemble it. I put the speakers on brand new Sonos speaker stands and proceeded to carefully follow the setup instructions. After 2 hours of retracing steps and resetting the sound bar I could not get the sound bar to pair with the subwoofer. I even placed a call to my son who just bought the same system and he said "I must be doing something wrong". :-)I came to the realization that the unit was defective. Kind of disappointing. I went on the VISIO support site and surfed around trying to find canned solutions to no avail. I then called the support number. The person who answered asked a few valid questions about the symptoms and setup and then immediately said they would send me a new unit. Kind of floored me to be honest. I expected a run around. The new unit arrived in 3 business days and I swapped the sound bar and sub-woofer. Everything is now working very well and i am pleased with the 2nd unit. Sound is great. The return label was in the packing slip. Return shipping is free. all i had to do was repack (fairly easy) and get it to UPS.Vizio customer service gets my thumbs up!! Even though i had to return the unit i still give it 5 stars for sound and value.UPDATE: After a couple of months of use I can say that I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. Sound is decent for the tv. But what I really like is the Bluetooth along with my music. Great sound for the price.

Pretty great
Just got mine yesterday.Set up is a little tasking, and making sure everything is connected/synced is also tasking. The reward though is well worth it. Sounds amazing and easy to control. Haven't had disconnect issues, audio lag, or even popping. Now I'll be blunt, the small speakers DO project sound. But not much which was a bit disappointing. I also thought the subwoofer wasn't working though it was all connected. But you just mess with the setting a little bit, and you WILL FEEL the subwoofers power.Minus the speakers it's definitely a quality sound system.I use mine for gaming, so you can imagine it gets load with explosions, gun blasts, sword clashing, etc. Voices are clear during cut scenes. The vehicles roar loudly and beautifully.I listen to metal music so you can feel the double bass from the drums, guitars are clear, everything sounds good.I say it's worth every penny. Great job Vizio.

Pretty much the best soundbar at the price range
This soundbar is pretty much the best soundbar at this price range, in my opinion. At about $200 or so, nothing can beat this soundbar. It does have caveats, but for general listening / home theater use, its unbeatable. I personally owned several of these D5 generation soundbars.I tried diversifying my soundbar collection a bit (in the price range class), but I keep on going back to these. For example the current JBL soundbars, they have really good subwoofer (a bit overpowering) but the bar itself sounds muddy and hollow. So do the ones from Samsung and LG. Mostly they sound hollow with little definition in the highs and almost absent mids. The other Vizio in the price range sounds pretty good, but in my opinion the sock / fabric look is terrible and they look dirty very quickly, absorbing gunk and muck, as well as the pets ripping the fabric out or whatnot. This D5 soundbar from Vizio hits quite a few good points:1. For the price it sounds really good. Crisp defined highs (a rarity in its class), good (enough) mids, and good (enough) subwoofer. They are not the best frequency range in the world, but very well balanced. Most soundbars have terrible mids because of their driver sizes (either too small on the soundbar, or too big on the subwoofer), but the Vizio has pretty good mids. The subwoofer does not thump very low, but good enough for general use. It is quite impressive especially if you consider the size of the subwoofer.2. Great build quality, the bar's mesh made of metal, slim, streamlined design: this is important for the more professional look, withstand abuse better, and easier to clean.3. The thin profile of the subwoofer fits under sofas or within nooks and crannies, this is important if you don't like seeing big subwoofer laying around.Cons:1. Old technology. By now the D5 generation is considered older technology. It does not have 4K passthru, Dolby Atmos, or any other fancy things. Vizio does make a newer metal mesh soundbar with Dolby Atmos (SB46514-F6), but currently they cost $1000 ($700 on discount).2. Buggy sometimes. When I switch around the soundbar for different TVs, sometimes they won't connect / needs to be power cycled or reconnected to the Smartcast app. If I don't touch it after reinstalling everything usually it works just fine.My priorities for soundbar is relative sound quality to price, and build quality. I do not have complicated needs for these soundbars, just connection via HDMI ARC to the TV. For that purpose, this soundbar is (still) the best in its class. I think you should get it while Vizio still make them and the price is low (originally in the $400s if I'm not mistaken).

Great sound, nice looking slim wireless subwoofer
I really love the Vizio SB4051-D5 Smartcast system. I have it connected via optical to my Vizio M50-E1. I don't have to change the input on the sound bar, when I change the input on the TV. It always uses the optical out on the TV and I set the TV remote control to control the volume on the sound bar. So that I don't have to use the remote that came with the sound bar, or the Smartcast app unless I need to adjust bass, or change from Bluetooth. When I first tried to connect to HDMI, Optical digital, Digital, I would have had to use the AUX in for something. I have a cable box, computer, 4k player, and a game system connected to the TV. Plus to get it to play the sound for the Smartcast app on the TV it took too many connections that the sound bar didn't have, so I figured out the single input.Love the wireless subwoofer, nice and clean. Love the slim line subwoofer, better than the box.ConsSetup to WiFi is a pain, you have to hunt and find instructions to connect. Once connected it is fine.Plus if you connected a 4k device, such as the computer, via the HDMI through the sound bar it reduced the resolution to 1080. But easy to bypass if you use single audio output method.Shipper reviewWas shipped fast and even though it was"refurbished" it was in great condition.

decent sound bar
Easy to hook up, good inputs and outputs, thin good sounding sound bar. Won't win any audiophile awards, but for TV, it sounds just fine (tone controls). Sub is decent, best is you can really put it anywhere due to its slim design, and goes pretty deep. Not the punchyest sound, but gets the job done. For the price, its great

Included remote is a pain, otherwise great!
Having some issues setting up. New Samsung tv and the Vizio setting up @ the same time. I'm sure it will work out well in the end. Sound quality is top-notch for such a reasonable price. $349 CDN. I have it in bedroom subwoofer under the bed, rear speakers on bedside tables. Remote control is impossible @ the moment. I am hoping that my Harmony remote will make it easier. Included remote's display is hard to read, commands are hard to understand. I am fairly tech-savvy, so should be able to work it out. If you have problems following instructions with new tech, you may need some help setting up.

Certainly worth the money!
I was surprised at the quality of the sound for the price I paid! Just like being at the movies but no popcorn! It was fairly easy to set-up as long as your TV has all the correct connections! I bought the extra insurance for the system, so I should be in good shape for the next 4 years! So far I am very satisfied after only owning the system for about a month! The rear speakers are wire connected which was no concern to myself!

One of the best for sound quality and value
This is my 4th Vizio sound bar and the best one so far. I listened to many and tested a few, but nothing comes close to this model for sound quality. I use it for music mostly and the sound is clear and accurate. The full range speakers sound much better than many tweeter/mid combos I have heard. Bass is deep and solid without needing too much volume. Product has a premium look and feel to it with the metal grills and neo design. It has every connection you could need. Setting up was a pain in the...., but now all seems to be working ok. Highly recommend this over a lot of the newer Vizio models.

Performed great!.. for 3 weeks.
I wanted this to be my solution to budget-but-true home theater 5.1 surround sound. You get what you pay for, defective sub stopped sending audio signal to one of the satellites according to VIZIO tech support. They told me to get a refund.
