A beautiful watch for the entry level collector
In the world of watch making Swiss is all that matters. However, there are a plethora of great watches and brands that are not of the Swiss caliber. One of those brands is Junkers, a German watch making brand that has forged a solid path in the world of horology. Watch making, like any other big market, requires a brand or company to stand out in some way, form some new niche. Junkers has done just that with their Bauhaus 6060-5 automatic watches.Bauhaus was a famous art school on Germany that forged the way for a new kind of art. Junkers has taken its lead on this line of watches, combining simplicity with sophistication into modern watch making. This particular model has two complications: (1) a power reserve, located at 12 o'clock; and (2) a date complication, conveniently located at the 3 o'clock position. The case is stainless steel with mineral crystal covering the face and exhibition case back of the Bauhaus 6060-5. The face of the watch is a beautiful cream color. The watch comes on a supple brown leather strap but, as the pictures indicate, I have replaced the strap--more on that later. The heartbeat of the Junkers is a Miyota 9132, a competitor to the ETA 2824. With ETA being stingy at times about selling their movements to third party buyers, Miyota is the next best choice as far as Japanese movements are concerned (Seiko notwithstanding). The daily rate of the Miyota 9132 is -10/+30 seconds/day, not bad but also not great. Of course if this is too much for you more elite watch people, by all means it can be easily remedied by taking the watch to a watch repairman. The power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock says the watch has 40 hours of power reserve, but the manual states it is "40+" hours. The strap of the watch was nice, giving the wearer the feeling that you were not even wearing a watch, but unfortunately for me it was too long. I punched holes in the original strap, but it just wasn't the same, hence the strap change. If I could offer one complaint about this watch it would be that it feels a bit plasticky on the wrist. The mineral crystal combined with a lower grade stainless steel gives the watch a fragile feeling on your wrist, like if you were to hit it hard enough on something it my do some serious damage to the watch. Therefore, be careful in wearing this watch and treating it as a tool watch, which it is not.Overall, I recommend this watch to anyone looking to get into entry level, non-Swiss, watch collecting. Junkers is a respectable brand in the watch world despite not being Swiss. Take the plunge on the Bauhaus 6060-5, you won't regret it!

Nice but noisy!
If you're a fan of automatic german watches and the bauhaus design (simple, straightforward) then you'll like this watch. It's a nice size for those of us with larger hands/wrists.That being said...as I changed the watch band out (see above larger...) I was aware of how "noisy" the weighted winder is on this watch. Granted I was in a relatively quiet room but still...a bit surprising considering it's cost.I would imagine that in a normal setting with the "whirl and the rush of humanity" it would be less noticeable.

Amazon says the strap is black but, in person, it is clearly a dark brown. This is not the manufacturer's fault but Amazon needs to finally update their information. The watch itself is great:-The automatic movement winds very efficiently (about one hour of activity seems to add about five hours to the power reserve)-The dial is extremely easy to read-The hesalite crystal doesn't show fingerprints-Keeps great time--after a week of continuous running, it's only off by about 10 seconds-It's thin enough to wear under a dress shirt sleeve with no trouble-General construction is excellent, as you'd expect at this price-The strap is made of very nice leather; it broke in within a day or two and is extremely comfortable/softI should mention that the movement is a little noisier than I'm used to. It's not so loud as to be irritating (to me) but there are times when I notice it sort of rattling around.

This watch is beautiful, but far too loud. Far, far too loud.
The watch is beautiful, and much more dressy than the pictures represent. Appears to be high quality, and the power indicator is a very neat touch. The drawback, which you and anyone within a few feet of your wrist will quickly notice, is that the oscillating weight is loud. Very, very loud. Louder than any automatic I've owned before. It's a cheap, tinny noise that sounds as though the weight is scraping ever so slightly around the machinery beneath it, and it makes itself known with every slight movement you make. It is maddening. I truly wanted to enjoy this watch, but the noise was simply too much. The watch was returned within the day.

and is a little less comfortable than if they diameter were equal to the front ...
due to a misunderstanding, I returned this watch. I did get the opportunity to examine it and try it on. Quality was impeccable. One thing you might consider, the back of the watch has a smaller diameter than the front, so it appears to stand out farther from the wrist, and is a little less comfortable than if they diameter were equal to the front of the watch. Ultimately, I returned the watch because I realized the movement is made in Japan, when the watch says on the front "made in Germany." This was a dumb mistake on my part. I'm simply not interested in another Japanese movement as I already have plenty of those from Seiko and Orient. Just something to think about. but the watch is beautiful and is everything that the other reviewers say it is.

The movement stopped functioning properly after 7 months
My wife purchased this watch for me in March of 2018. It worked well until November of 2018 when it would loose time within a few hours of winding the movement. We reached out to the company to get a warranty repair of some sort and never heard back. It’s a great looking watch but the movement didn’t stand up to intermittent useage.

Different - old retro style.
I like the fact that this watch has three complications. The remaining hours before empty. 24 hour indicator and date. However, the crystal is plastic! This made me rate the watch lower. They should have invested in a Safire crystal for this watch considering the price! The fact that it runs about 8 seconds fast per 24 hours is not also desirable. Overall, this is a good daily dress watch.
