Only $36?
The version of this keyboard I purchased is the non-LED version.Pros:1. Price. I have wanted a mechanical keyboard for a while but they are quite pricey. $36 for a mechanical keyboard is amazing.2. Size. I don't have a lot of desk space and while the keys are normal size, there is no wasted space on this keyboard.3. Heft. This is a heavy keyboard. Especially considering it's size. It's made of metal and will not slide across your desk. It feels solid and robust.4. Media Keys. By supplying a Function Key and making all of the F# keys have a Function ability, you get all of the normal media keys without the additional real estate addition.5. No LED lights. It's actually hard to find a mechanical keyboard without LED lights.Other thoughts:I don't really have a section for cons. Coming from a membrane keyboard, the mechanical switches feel like heaven. I learned to type on an IBM electric typewriter and my first computer keyboards were all mechanical. My last mechanical keyboard was replaced 15 years ago when serial ports went the way of the Dodo, and I'd forgotten how much better mechanical keyboards are. That said, the switches are not the German engineered Cherry MX so I'd suspect they aren't as finely made, but I'm not a sensitive enough typist to notice if various keys depress at different points. The other thing which might be a con for some is the blue switches are loud. I love the sound, but some of my coworkers don't. I might have to get another one for work with quiet switches and take this one home.

Good entry into Mechanical Keyboards. Good build quality. Super LOUD.
--This is for the version that does not light up--EDIT--One year later...After a year of use two issues came up:1. The printing on the keycaps really started to wear off and it became quite noticeable. The lettering is still readable and clear, but noticeably worn.2. The "B" key started to need more pressure than usual to register. The switches in the keyboard are swappable--meaning you can pull them out and pop in a replacement. This might solve the issue, but I misplaced the extra switches that it came with.Otherwise, the keyboard still works fine and performs the same as new. Not too bad. You can find replacement keycap sets on ebay for less tahn $10, so that would solve the issue of the printing wearing off. Replacing the faulty switch on the "B" key would also fix that I believe.I say it's still a good buy for how cheap and sturdy it is.Original review--I bought this to use at work, since I don't want to type on a 10-year old Dell membrane cheapo that's seen more fingers than a ring salesman. Unfortunately, as I expected, it's too loud for my office. People were getting upset. I might lose my job if I keep using this thing. This is my first mechanical keyboard since the 90's, back when they were just called keyboards, and they came in gray and said IBM on the corner. This is a good choice if you want to test the waters of mechanical keyboards, but don't want to spend $150 right off the bat.The top is all aluminum, which makes it super sturdy and weighty. The cord is a basic black plastic one, but it is thick and seems fine. The feet are very sturdy and have a nice rubber coating, so with the weight of it, it won't slide around, and has a good height for ergonomics. The keys a slight curve for ergonomics, which is nice - it's not totally flat like a cheap keyboard is.The keycaps feel sturdy, BUT the lettering on them WILL rub off with normal use. I'm already seeing some keys looking faded compared to ones I rarely use.The keys have a pretty long stroke travel. I'd say the switch activates about 60% down, and the rest is unnecessary travel. It has a great tactile, clicky feel when typing. It definitely is a tremendously better feeling typing experience compared to a basic membrane keyboard. The SOUND is very clacky overall. You can listen to videos of this in other reviews. It has a loud, higher pitched CLICK from the switch, and another louder CLACK from the key bottoming out at the end of travel.I've ordered some o-rings to try and dampen the clack from the keys bottoming out. This should hopefully also lower the travel distance too. We'll see.For gaming, I've only played Overwatch with this, and it is a nicer feeling compared to my aging Microsoft sidewinder keyboard. I do feel like I'm hitting the keys in a more definite, cleaner way, compared to the sidewinder. I would often hit keys mistakenly with the sidewinder, and that no longer happens with this keyboard. I'm terrible at Overwatch though, so it's not like this keyboard is going to take me to Korea for the championships.I took off one star because the printing on the keycaps will definitely be rubbed off in no time. I'm talking weeks. I do like this keyboard a lot though, so I'll probably order some replacement keycaps for the WASD, Shift, C, and V keys in the near future. I think the keyboard is of a nice enough quality to warrant the upgrade parts.I'd like to see an option with a numpad, because it really is a very important section if you plan to type numbers. I wasn't sure if I'd miss the numpad, but I really do. The smaller footprint that you get without a numpad is quite nice though, and gives me more mouse room for gaming.I'd say GET this board IF:You want to try out a mechanical keyboard at low costDon't care about the missing numpadand don't mind spending $10-$15 more on o-rings and a few replacement caps.Don't get this board IF:You need something quiet for the officeYou need a numpadYou want a board that requires no extra parts

Well built keyboard, but lack of rollover can be a problem
Very sturdy build quality for the price. The outemu blue switches are loud and very tactile. I've never used real Cherry blue switches, so I can't compare to those, but they felt great to me. Very distinct click.I tried using this with a Mac (OS X), and had no problem switching the ALT and Windows keys around in software, to mimic the Mac Option and Command keys. However I ran into a problem with multiple-key rollover. The keyboard would not recognize several key combinations that included more than one modifier key at a time (for example, Alt-Ctl-U or Shift-Ctl-P, etc.). Some combos would work - mainly anything that included the small subset of 25 keys on the left side of the board that are advertised as included in the rollover feature. However anything outside of that would not work with 2+ modifiers held down. I understand the board does not have N-key rollover, but not being able to at least use 2-3 modifiers at a time is a deal breaker for me. I assumed any keyboard would include this ability. I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts in my work, so this keyboard would not work for me. Had to return it. FYI I tried this board on a Windows machine and had the same problem, so it wasn't an issue with the Mac.If it weren't for that problem, I would have loved it, especially for the price.

Underrated!
The KB arrives with proper blue Cherrylike switches, two tools, one for keys the other I suppose for the switches, and five(!) spare switches! The layout is staggered but these switches seem very similar to typical mechanical switches so I assume one can buy keys at any key-seller.So the layout is changeable, the switches are good, typical mechanical switches and the price was great. So fo far so good!I bought the basic-version.

Ottima tastiera meccanica entry level.
