GMG Davy Crockett upgrade to GMG Trek
My first pellet grill. This is the updated upgraded Trek from the predecessor GMG Davy Crockett. The following are my impressions on the improvements:1. The four legs for the unit are swapped out from the collapsable folding legs before. It is more more stable and I have tried the Davy Crockett and I prefer the stable legs of the Trek. Carrying the Trek is not difficult with the new configuration.2. Apparently the control software has been upgraded, not sure what improvements there is there. To be determine I guess. But hopefully there is better wifi controls.3. I opted for the Trek cart, which is sold separately. To be honest, with this new bells and whistle, I already run into the Jim Bowie price range. I am okay with it, cause I prefer to have the small unit.4. The power plug. No need for a cordsafer. I am still mindful to place and plug in an area that no one traverses to prevent the cord from coming off the unit.Important consideration:a. All accessories for the Davy Crockett will work on the Trek. This is a plus since I do not need to wait for third parties to come out with new stuff for the Trek.Speaking of accessories:1a. The biggest accessory I got was the replacement grill from thebbqhq.com. The custom made grill is beefier and the second rack is far more sturdy. Saw it in a youtube review video and decided to pull the trigger on getting one myself.Cons I need to address still:a1. The biggest con with the GMG Trek and for that matter the davy crockett is the huge amount of smoke leak venting from the lids, when the fan is activated. I saw a mod video and will look into how practical his solutions are.Overall, super happy with this grill. It is small in size compare to other smokers, but I wanted a small unit, I not planning on a huge cook for parties of 10 plus. Good buy for good eats. Thank you for reading my review. ciao.

Great at home and easy to take along to the beach, tailgating and other outings.
Fantastic smoker. The right size. Perfect for smoking a whole side of salmon at once. I love this for smoled fish, smoked mac and cheese and smoked beans. Chicken and pork chops.

Green Mountain Grill trek
When i first got it i was not used to it. I been using it for about 5 months works great did find some thing the lid doesn’t seal all the way so i got some lid sealer or smoke strips and put around it and it works too keep the smoke in. I clean it on every 4 to 5 small burns and every big burn i have no issues.

Ignitor failure
I recently purchased this grill for our rv use. The grill is the perfect size for what we needed. The grill came without delay and was packaged very secure. The grill is an easy set up right out of the box. Once set up, the recommendation is too condition, or season the grill before use. The grill started and went through the necessary steps for proper operation, and was easily brought up to the 150 def temperature, then held the temp (350dgf) pretty solid; very little drift. After the seasoning (1/2 hr wait), the grill was shut down per the instruction, then powered off after the cooling period...all was good, and I was very happy with the purchase. That evening, I went to start the grill for dinner, and the grill went through the startup sequence. It stepped through all the necessary steps, but the igniter failed to operate. I went through the necessary trouble shooting and tried three more times to get the grill to ignite...it never did. There was no indication the igniter failed, other than the grill temperature never getting above ambient temp. As of now, I'm trying to get in contact with GMG to see if I can get a replacement igniter...all I've been able to accomplish is to leave a voice mail.... hopefully, I can get a replacement without purchasing it...Update: I was contacted by GMG and they will be sending me a new igniter at no charge to me; along with a detailed instruction on how to replace the igniter. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and answered all my questions. looking forward to grilling!

Great grill
This is a wonderful grill. Easily handles two racks of ribs. Portable and very well made.

Leaks a lot of grease, rusts easily
I'm a competition grill chef and have worked with many types of grills. This smoker produces good results for low temperature cooks (under 300F). However, it has two big flaws that prevent me from recommending it. First, the grill cover is covered in rust spots after a year plus of use (to date this is a cosmetic issue only, but still shouldn't happen). Stainless steel construction or an enamel coating would solve this. The second and a bigger flaw -- a significant of amount of grease leaks down the legs, rather than into the grease bucket, and makes a big greasy mess on your cooking table or whatever you've placed it on. Not just a few drips -- it leaves a puddle of grease bigger than your hand during every cook, not fun. This leaking must be due to either a design flaw or bad quality control during the manufacturing process.

Everything I have grilled or smoked has been great. I use this 3 or 4 times a week.
We have have had a lot of grills and smokers, This is our second pellet grill (wore the first one out). I have a small stone enclosure. I needed a pellet grill that would fit in it. It cooks well and is very easy. The interface with my cell phone lets me startup set temperatures and modify setting with ease. It's a lot of stainless steel and does not rust. I also have the pizza maker and it is a lot of fun and makes great pizza.

Great Little First Smoker
Just got this yesterday and it was mostly assembled right out of the box, just a couple easy things like move the handle and install smoke stack. I got it all set with pellets and plugged it in and hot the power button and it went right thru its start up. Then turn up the temp to 360 for the burn for 30 minutes as suggested in the manual. After that I cooked a couple burgers to test it out, they turned out great. I’ll be smoking a Turkey next week.As far as the app goes get the basic app not the prime app so started with that one and very frustrating for a non tech guy. The other app and I only found 2 on the App Store, hooked right up and I can adjust temp from my phone as long as you stay on the GMG WiFi so I had to bounce back whenever I wanted to check on the smoker. I say bounce back cause you can’t do any other web stuff from that WiFi just your grill app.
