Can you put in the microwave to soften ice cream a little to get it out of the container easier?

On multiple occasions, I have put it in the microwave minus the lid for 10 seconds to soften ice cream with good success and no apparent damage to the container. The container shape also makes it easy to drag your ice cream scoop over the surface to create nice, round scoops from even very firm ice cream.

Yes, the packaging states it is BPA free.

Does this work to hold homemade ice cream?

Yes it does that's the only thing ive put in it so far. It works really well to keep the ice cream cold and it hasnt given me freezer burn so far which is saying a lot since i forgot i had made ice cream and keft it untouched for three months. When i remembered about it it was still as good as when i first made it.

I'm looking at purchasing a Cuisinart ice cream maker. Will the ice cream be soft enough to pour into the tub after the maker's cycle is complete?

I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker, two actually since we make a lot of ice cream. Yes, the ice cream will be soft enough to scrape from the ice cream maker into the container but not pour like a batter. NOTE: I posted a review of the ice cream container pictured. I bought 6 of them and each one cracked within the first or second use. They get too hard in the freezer. When you are scooping the ice cream and you hit it side or your hand slips and hits the container it cracks. I even got plastic pieces in the ice cream. I didn't even have to use any pressure since the ice cream was not hard like store bought but homemade. The other container set that are round that have a label on them with a soft plastic lid works the best and no ice crystals. The Tovolo I bought in all colors and they all cracked. Be careful if you but them.
