Camp Chef Extendable Safety Roasting Sticks

there's so much about these that i love! i wanted long forks, but didn't really have a place to store them with easy access. "extending forks"? problem solved! i thought they might be flimsy when extended but they're very firm. they can be used not extended, half or full or any length and they're still firm/not flimsy or loose. the turn back fork end is taking a little getting used to, but several marshmallows and hot dogs have been saved from the depths of the campfire so far by this simple design. the wooden handle and leather strap on each is a really nice, classy touch that makes these feel very high end / good quality. easy to clean if let to soak with fork end standing in a glass of water for a while. sotarge bag is also a nice touch that i don't think was mentioend in the product description.

These forks are the perfect roasting fork.1) They extend for roasting and retract for easy transport2) They are sturdy so larger heavier items can be securely speared and roasted over the campfire.3) The prongs are backwards facing and are accident safe, easy to transport and help prevent food from sliding into the fire.4) The stay-cool wood handle is securely attached.We have used this fork for the past 3 years all summer and winter long and love how easy they are to use, transport and stow. Works well for large sausages, chicken thighs as well as roasting marshmallows for s'mores. This particular brand is one of the sturdier and better-made ones available.Highly recommended.

Very pleased with the design and sturdiness of these forks. They minimize the chances of kids poking one in an eye--which was the main feature I wanted--but the length of the tine is convenient for hot dogs or multiple marshmallows. I was impressed with the sturdiness, as they appear that they'll sustain a fair amount of abuse (unlike others of smaller diameter metal). All-in-all exactly what we wanted. I'd recommend them to a friend.

These might be a good choice for hotdogs - but we found them a little problematic for smores. We bought them for our last camping trip when our old forks turned up missing. With a smore typically the marshmallow is roasted then the two halves of the graham cracker, complete with required chocolate, is used to slide the gooey and hot marshmallow off of end of the fork into a little bit of campfire nirvana. These forks the face back towards the handle are much more difficult to slide the roasted 'mallow off of.I think another contributing factor is the wire size of fork is larger - which makes the whole assemble solid - but also makes the liquidized core of the marshmallow stick to it more than a smaller gauge wire would.Build quality was good - but just not what we wanted them for.

These were great forks. I felt safe letting my 2.5 year old use them (under close supervision). The marshmallows stayed on the fork and the carrying case kept the forks from damaging other items in the bag. They were a touch more expensive than other forks - but worth it. I imagine we'll have them for years

So now that I have used these 6 or so times, I have to say they are pretty nice. Nothing slides off when the kids point them down in the fire. Had problems with this before when using regular roasting forks. The extendable size can accommodate small to large fires. The finish will more than likely come off after a few uses as fires are hot. This is normal. I wash mine with a coarse sponge and put them back in the bag they came in once they dry. If the finish comes off they will rust if left outside or near any moisture at all. I keep mine in a garage cabinet and this seems to work well.

I wasn't sure how well the sliding design would work, but it actually feels quite sturdy. There is enough tension between the two loops that it stays in whatever position you slide it to, and the metal is thick enough that it would be pretty hard to bend/damage.The ends being bent 180 degrees gives some peace of mind when in the hands of my kids, as it reduces the chance of getting a hot poker in the eye. It also makes for a lot of room to pile on the marshmallows or hot dogs.I'm very pleased with the quality of this product.

This is the worst product I have bought from amazon. The handles of the skewers are barely held on there. Two of them fell off right out of the bag. Basically a hole is drilled and the metal end is forced in there. Also the metal is too thin and marshmallows fall off. Also the extending mechanism is not solid and will slide back towards your hand with any weight in the skewer. Seriously this is a horrible horrible product. I can't believe Amazon will sell such a poorly made product.
