The Amazing World of Dinosaurs: An Illustrated Journey Through the Mesozoic Era Paperback – Illustrated, September 20, 2016

This is a great book! Something for every age. For younger children, the illustrations alone are stunning, life-like, having an almost photographic quality. For older children on up to adults, the information provided in the text will re-ignite the fascination with dinosaurs and prehistoric periods most all of us had as children. In addition to being a beautiful book to page through, the more in-depth information pulls us in, reminding us of things we may have learned as children, but in many cases enriching with new information for the casual 'scientist.' Written in an easy to read style, it becomes hard to put down. The best book on dinosaurs I’ve ever seen; a reference that I will keep for years to come in my home library. Great gift idea.

An update. I have found that the book does have phonetic pronunciations in the back of the book so I've updated my rating to 5 stars.This is a very good introductory book on dinosaurs. Geared for adults and older children that are new to dinosaur studies it's got a lot of good information, but not too much depth. The art work is amazing. My one complaint is since it is geared to newbies to dinosaurology it would be nice to have phonetic pronunciations for the animals' names. Many, even for more experienced dino fans, are tongue twisters.

I'm still reading this book, but it's chock-full of information on prehistoric animals, plants, marine life and flying beasts. It was written recently, so the information is up-to-date and well presented. I was tickled to read that the Brontosaurus is back in vogue. The binding is good quality. This will make a great book for young children or adults. I'm enjoying it immensely.

I was amazed at the quality and detail of the paintings. I actually gasped as I went from page to page and studied the dinosaurs, the surrounding plants and environment in which the dinosaurs lived. Here is where art and history kiss in the most realistic depiction of eons past brought to the here and now. James Kuether's gift for telling a story is only matched by years of study in order to create the most realistic period in dinosaur history. If I were a dinosaur, I would have these ancient photos in my ancient wallet in order to brag about my relatives. "And this one shows junior showing off his scales and bright white teeth as they sink into megaeatensnackarus. The Amazing World of Dinosaurs should be in a every grammar school and college.

Love love this book! The illustrations are large and colorful and the lifelike portraits are depicted in stunning settings, including underwater!. You can almost see them move. The artwork is not only gorgeous but the text is informative, up to date, and accessible to a non-scientist like myself. This is a great gift for any age. Something for everybody.

Beautiful book for anyone who loves dinosaurs; ideal for adults or children. Every page is beautifully illustrated and has lots of information. You can even get a pack of matching playing cards to make it a perfect gift!

What a wonderful book! The illustrations intrigue and information educates. I would recommend this book for any adult or child in love with dinosaurs.

Is Kuether's "The Amazing World of Dinosaurs: An Illustrated Journey Through the Mesozoic Era" (henceforth AW) mostly good? Yes. Is it mostly good enough for me to recommend reading it on its own? No. That said, I do recommend reading it, but in conjunction with Naish/Barrett's "Dinosaurs: How They Lived and Evolved".
