No Regrets!
I just finished frying 95 party wings for a military potluck lunch. My wings were requested so I ordered this fryer to hopefully make my cook time less stressful. I hate monitoring grease on the stove! All the wings were cooked to perfection within an hour and between 6 or 7 batches. The grease stayed close to temp throughout the process cutting off wasted time that is usually spent waiting for the grease to reheat on the stove. I also hate the smell of grease in my house and the potential that it clings to curtains, furniture, your hair and clothes. This fryer fit perfectly on my outdoor side table on the balcony. I fried fourteen small party wings at a time and 8 to 10 of the larger wings. All wings were marinated, dipped in egg and seasoned flour which can dirty oil in half the time. The grease held up well and the basket prevented the old flour from clinging to new batches. No grease smell in my house or on me! I used the large basket and probably will most of the time as I cook for three. The smaller baskets could come in handy when cooking two different foods at the same time. Clean up was as easy as pie. I removed the basket and cleaned it first while the raised the heating element hung over the side of the oil pan (not submerged) which helped it cool faster. When it was cool enough to touch I washed it. Finally, I disposed of the grease about an hour later and cleaned the pan. Very easy and less complicated than most counter top fryers since all parts can be separated and most can go in the dish washer but it really was just as easy to hand wash. I am glad I made this purchase and am thrilled that I can take my frying outdoors. I can even envision taking it fishing and frying fresh fish at the tail end of my suv. Great product. Simple, straight to the point, quality, looks good, cleans up easy, and stores within a square foot of space. Not to mention it produced wings that were gobbled up within 30 minutes.

Excellent return on investment
Excellent return on investment... you can't beat this fryer at this price, it's that good. Crisp, golden, fried food as you would expect. Take the time to experiment with various foods and cuts of meat and the time it takes to cook. You do need to vary the temp based on the type and thickness of the product. Some things cook in two minutes, others take much longer. It's also worth mentioning that it is hard to see the green light (at temp). You have to hold your hand over the light to see it. Make sure to carefully follow the instructions to attach handle correctly. Splashing hot oil can be a disaster. If you have trouble with the coating on foods sticking to the basket once done, try to leave the basket in while heating the oil and drop the food in with tongs to cook. Cold batter will stick to the basket with gusto. This basket does have a lip to lift out the food and drain the oil into the basket, love that.

works great
I've been using mine almost daily for 2 months now. Cleans easily, runs nicely. I don't know how I got on with life before I had it, but I'm a french fryholic though. Basket size:I cook 2 servings at a time in the large basket, I don't overfill it. So for large russet potatoes, I max out at 4 potatoes.Skins on, skins off, I cook apples, even romanesco broccoli in mine. Haven't tried tempura yet.Oils: we try to be healthy, so we use a combination of coconut oil and avocado oil. I don't recommend using straight coconut oil, it bubbles a lot more than regular oil.I set the dial to 170c or 338F, give it about 10 minutes to heat up (5 is fine too, but first batch will take longer) for habit burger size fries, I cook 10 minutes. For in n out size fries, I cook 7 minutes. I go a little less for sweet potatoes.

HOW TO DRAIN OIL
First of all, there is no cover for the heating element. Customer support says to always use baskets. Well, that is not a very good idea when you are cooking batter covered foods. Try it in a basket! The batter goes through the basket and cooks right into the basket weaving. It took me 15 minutes of soaking in dish soap, then scrubbing with wire brush for another 15 minutes to get all the cooked on batter out of the basket wire. That was no fun. So, next time we fried beer batter fish, we held it into the hot oil for a few seconds until the bottom started to cook and then slid it off the solid pancake turner used to just barely get it into the hot oil and once we slid it off the pancake turner it actually floated and was wonderful.Next problem is the removal of the used oil. No drain. So, not sure how to approach that problem. There are no handles on the actual oil containment unit. So, it will be difficult and slippery to get it into a position to strain it and drain it.Other than that it heats quickly and does an excellent job of cooking french fries - in the baskets. Tomorrow I must try the sliced, breaded and fried zucchini..Will probably do that outside a basket as I would in the electric fry pan.I like the unit, so will deal with the problems. I have a T-Fal toaster and love it, so will stick with this ...

The Widowmaker
I'm deep frying like a mofo with this bad boy. Afraid to check my cholesterol at this point but I'm loving it. Seriously though, it's a great machine, holds the temperature nicely, decent size for home use, and is easy to clean.

Makes perfect fries
Would prefer if it got a little hotter but it works well and i love the different basket options. The plug is magnetic so it can be a bit hard to plug in when not directly in line with the outlet but deginately not a deal breaker
