Feral cat loves this cat house!
I purchased this New Age cat house over a year ago and our feral cat would not go in it. Originally, I had it located close to the feeding station on our deck. So,I decided to move it further away from the feeding station closer to the house still on the deck. Still, our feral cat would not go inside, but would sit on top of it. Finally, I moved it to a location off the deck on the side of the house next to a spot where she liked to take naps. I kept the plastic door covers on the cat house because I didn’t want the rain to get in it. After a year of our feral cat, not using this cat house, I purchased a larger cat house that she went inside immediately. She would often times sit underneath the larger cat house so she had a good view and could stay dry when it rained. She used the larger cat house without a plastic door on it for about two months during the winter with the rain and snow and then suddenly something happened; it got really wet inside from all the rain and snow and mud. I had placed a small cat bed inside the larger cat house, which got really wet. I probably should’ve used the straw instead. In any case she stopped using the larger cat house and rediscovered the smaller New Age cat house. She has been using the New Age cat house for the last month every night and loves it. So the plastic doors were not an issue. She figured out how to use them. I have a self warming mat on the bottom and then straw over top. Finally, success! Great cat house, easy to assemble. My feral cat loves this house!

Worked great for winter shelter from the elements
Bought this last fall in preparation for our northern winters after working for a year to get the feral cat to trust me enough. I wasn't sure he'd use it, but he really took to it. He didn't even mind the door flaps being in place once he figured out how to use them. I made him a nest of straw and a small blanket (swapped out when it got damp from snow he brought in.) He liked it on the coldest nastiest days and was generally quite content in there through the worst of our nasty storms. Eventually, I put a second tent-type shelter on top because he liked being out and he used that one in the less nasty weather, but this hard-sided one was the go-to for the worst of the weather. It's definitely not roomy for a full-grown male cat, but roomy also equals cold, so I think it was big enough to protect him which was the purpose. He had enough space to be able to sit up and do some grooming and, while he couldn't really stretch out, he didn't complain.I did need to protect it from rain by putting a plywood board on top of it because water absolutely WILL seep in. I also added a foam layer inside on the floor because I worried the elevated floor would be colder than if it was on the ground (and in case it got damp in there.) I also added a vertical wind block to create a sort of entryway to protect the door flap from direct wind. Worked great. (The second door flap was protected by being about 5 inches out from my house wall, but I found if I blocked it off completely, he wouldn't use the hut.) Am attaching a pic of a particularly snowy day when he came out to eat. You can see how I needed to add additional weather blocks to protect the hut. (The feral cat is in the foreground so it looks smaller than it really is. It's not big, but it housed him well.)

Very pleased!!
Received it today and we are very happy! It’s very well made. I put it together in about 20 minutes. Our cat is already comfortable in it! It should make him a happy home when he spends time outside.

A Perfect Cat House... for my Neighbor’s Dog :-(
This cat house is fantastic! It was easy to assemble, with all the parts included and clear instructions. It holds up well in the rain and even in Alabama’s occasional snowy and icy weather. I was such a proud momma when I set it up outside for my kitty. But, of course, my 17-year-old black tuxedo cat, Cole, had other ideas and refused to go inside. So, I gave it to my next-door neighbor, whose medium-sized dog loves squeezing into it. A few days later, I looked out my window and saw my cat, Cole, sleeping on top of the former cat house—the very one he wanted nothing to do with. SMH. Cats never fail to surprise me.

Great little house!
I got one of these for the 2 outdoor cats I feed. It's worked great! I did put in some thin foam insulation and used straw for the bottom. The straw stayed nice and dry all winter long! The flap on the side door kept the wind, snow, and rain out. But they wouldn't go in through the flap on the front so I took that off and put the opening facing my house so it kept the wind out. Every morning when I go out to feed them they are coming out of their little house.
