Amazingly clear and solid sound and beautiful looking!
The new RP-280FAs replaced my old front Polk Monitor 40s that have served me very well these last 6 years. The two towers that flank my TV are monolithic, but they have a stately and refined appearance. Without the magnetic grills, the copper woofers give it a slightly more raw and assertive appearance.I hooked them up to my Denon X3300W 7.1 AVR and set the ceiling-firing Atmos drivers as the height speakers in amp assignment and went through Denon's Audessey sound-analysis program. After about 10 minutes of tones through each speakers (I have a Yamaha 215 subwoofer and 2 Infinity ES250 rear surrounds) and changing the size of the Klipsch back to small (crossover is set to 40hz on these), I fired up The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray and found that my entire living room was filled with clear, distinct, and roaring sound. The Atmos provided just a hint of displaced surround sounds...it adds just the right level of ambience and environmental effects to open up the soundstage nicely. Throw in Gravity (which is one of the few movies out with a specific Atmos soundtrack) and you'll have a panic attack right along with Sandra Bullock when the shit hits the fan and you feel like you're in her suit tumbling through space. These have a high sensitivity (96dB) at 8ohms, allowing you to drive these at low volumes. If you live in a condo/apartment like I do, these are amazing. They can be placed within a few inches of both the TV and side/back walls with good bass response. Now, if you LOVE bass, you'll want to pull them away from the wall to allow that bass port in the back to send the earthquake rumbling through your domicile. Otherwise, you'll be able to play surround sound movies and music at low volumes with fantastic clarity. When it comes to music, you'll be blown away as these aren't subtle at all. The Tractix horn coupled with the LTS tweeter puts out perfectly clear treble...it's a tad bit sharp, but I like it...you can hear each cymbal hit and crash as if you were standing just a few feet away. The mid-range and bass are fantastic...not boomy; but solid, heavy, and spacious. The music is projected to your listening area with a fantastic balance. From Stevie Ray Vaughn, to Led Zeppelin, to Metallica, to Heart...you won't be disappointed.A couple of minor notes:These are HEAVY...at 81lbs each shipped, the delivery guy won't help you get these up the stairs (against Amazon policy). So, hopefully you have a friend or have been doing those sled pushes in the gym, because you're going to need some strength to get these up the stairs. The packaging is very solid, with dense styrofoam and rigid cardboard to reinforce the box. While the outside was banged up, the speakers arriveed in perfect condition. Be sure to check the bottom of the styrofoam, that's where they taped the floor spikes for carpets.Other than that, couldn't be more pleased. But these, you won't be disappointed.

Outstanding Soundz
These babies sound great! Also at nearly 100 pounds each they make great paperweights. Seriously, I waited a long time to afford a fine set of speakers and these were worth the wait (and weight). I haven't had the chance to really crank em up yet but at reasonable volume levels the sound is crisp and warm like a nice apple pie. If you can afford them they are worth every dollar.

Way to prices
Way to expensive for the price there are some out there just as good for the half the price. Don't get me wrong best of the best just not a good price.
