6 months and gone
forget line of sight or any other excuse, after 6 months of use, it started reconnecting and it loses connection about 5 seconds after regaining the connection. I changed its location. now they are in line of sight 6 feet away from each other. still nothing works. it just keeps reconnecting.

It works... for a while
Used this product lightly for a projector mounted to the ceiling. People are right about line of sight, which should be expected given the high frequency it operates at. It runs in a different part of the spectrum and thus doesn't interfere with WiFi signals, which is why we chose the product. Unfortunately, after a year and a half of light use, the item no longer transmits/receives the signal. They connect to each other, but then never establish the audio/video connectionThough we were happy with the item, we were very disappointed that something so expensive didn't last long.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY
I bought this product to transmit my Directv Satellite to my TV which is 10 feet away in a direct line of sight. Everything this product advertises makes this seem like it should do that with no problem. Right away I had a problem with the first one, when I called to get help from tech support, they ultimately told me they thought the item was defective and it should be replaced. They also told me they were backordered and I needed to wait a few months, which I did. I then received a second one which had the same exact problems, dropping the signal and eventually stopped working altogether. I even went as far as to get a third one through their warranty. Same problem. I asked for my money back but they refused because it was "outside the 30 day return window." Obviously it was outside the 30 day window because I patiently waited to get one from their warranty service. Had I known this was going to happen I would have demanded a refund right away. When e-mail "Ian" at Monoprice, I asked to speak to a supervisor but was refused on two separate occasions. Moral of the story=don't do business with crap companies like this.

WiHD works well, but units die at ~1 year.
Believe the other reviews. This product does work well, and can sync a signal usually in 5-10 seconds, with negligible lag after it’s connected. Picture and sound quality were great. In my house, the WiHD method was the only one that didn't interfere notably with my existing WiFi, much better than the J-Tech Digital option. But, the Blackbird died for me 13 months after receipt, with the same symptoms that other people report of periodic syncing and unsyncing as the failure mode. So if you buy it, expect that it will die, and either use a credit card with double warranty, or add the 3-4 year extended warranty.

Could be more clear on intend use
Great for devices that always push an HDMI signal. Not so much for laptops or pi builds that is it as an external monitor.

Worked for a few months, now just keeps reconnecting/disconnecting
This device is useless. Something is very wrong with the circuit design. It will keep reconnecting/disconnecting mid showing.
