JAPONESQUE Velvet Touch Finishing Powder, 3.00 oz, (Shades 01-04)

First, I’m really glad I didn’t take the negative reviews as gospel this time because I would have missed out on my new FAVORITE setting powder. I’m only speaking for myself but I’m glad I didn’t listen for once.So into the review!The pictures:*The outside of the compact which is extremely well made and definitely competes with the more expensive department store brand cosmetic lines.*The inside of the compact showing the pristine condition of it. If there’s any flaws, it’s because I made them.*The main picture I wanted to share of significance is that of my arm where I wanted to show how well it actually worked.BEFORE: Left side of picture- As you can see I had a little bruise, nothing covering it upAFTER: Right side of picture- used tiny amount of primer to get the powder to stay put...took foundation brush and covered up the bruising.My observations:So I was extremely impressed with the coverage it gave because it’s only a setting powder and I expected little to no coverage at all. It’s silky and soft.The other thing to note is how it evens out my skin tone and blends it all nicely and makes my arm skin look pretty dang good!So I’ve already used this a bunch since getting it. I’ve used it with just primer as a base and then with foundation. I have zero complaints and lots of praise.It’s a very silky smooth powder and when used with only a primer (I’m a diehard smashbox girl from way back) I loved the way it made my skin glow! I got lots of compliments on it as well. My husband said I had a nice healthy glow about me And the best part is I didn’t feel like I was wearing anything.When used with foundation, I applied this as a setting powder but it does have coverage to it and I loved how it seems to mesh into whatever color foundation you’re using. Now, I’m not sure how it would be with darker shades of foundation but I’m happy with the shade 3.It applies beautifully with my kabuki brush, the powder brush or the foundation brush for those smaller areas like under the eyes etc or even my powder puff thing. It goes on silky and smooth. I love the texture, actually I love it all. Whatever way I’ve applied it, it’s always beautiful.The most important thing that I’d like to point out that I have multiple auto immune issues and have super sensitive skin due to lupus and Sjögren’s so I was super excited to see that I didn’t break out with any skin issues after using. That was actually my first test. I wore it for an hour Applied directly to bare skin and then washed it off and not one flare up or break out so that’s awesome for me! Most makeup makes my skin go crazy but I had zero reaction to this cosmetic.that was nice right away because usually I get some kind of irritation like a rash or little bumps so I have to be extremely careful what I put on my face. It’s rare to Find a cosmetic that doesn’t cause some sort of irritation so I’m pretty excited that it doesn’t cause me any issues and if you’re like me and hate the way makeup feels on your face...you’ll appreciate this little fun fact that I can’t even tell when I’m wearing this. One night I actually fell asleep with it on because i forgot i was wearing any makeup! Even better, when I woke up the next day and washed it off, I had zero reaction to it. No irritation at all from sleeping in it. that says a lot in my book.So all in all I’m going to put my stamp of approval on this cosmetic. I’m going to try the foundation next and see how well it plays with this powder which I’m assuming will be amazingly awesome since it’s made for each other.I’ll definitely be purchasing this powder over the more expensive department store brands that I’ve been getting that cost more, isn’t as good and causes some irritation.This will definitely be a staple in My makeup kit going forward.

Great finishing powder, however be aware it is not a "translucent" color it will definitely lighten when its applied. It sets everything so nicely and holds makeup nicely. I use a lot of moisturizers before putting on liquid foundation which can make it feel like one touch will smudge it away. This stuff really helps set it all in place and adhere to my skin quickly. Great to use even for under eye highlight if used a lot, or a soft dusting for setting. Versatile product and its a lot. Perfect to carry for touch ups during the day if you need to deshine.

This product gives you great flawless coverage. It blends so well and the color is natural. I really like this product and I know you will too!

PRICEY!!! Can use w/brush or puff. Goes on light but melts into your coleur. Doesn't last long. S&H is expensive.

Underrated but spectacular. This isn't a setting powder per se. It's a finishing powder that gives the face a smooth visage after makeup. Great as a highlighter too. Not too ashy, just perfect and I have dark skin. I use it as a high lighting powder and to set my under eye concealer. It provides a plumped up poreless finish. It might not be great as a foundation powder, so don't use it as such.

I was nervous about buying this online because it's so hard to gauge skin tone from pictures, and mine tends to change pretty quickly from tan to extra pale and back again. I must have lucked out because I hit the right shade, and it's on the lighter side of coverage and goes on with a matte finish. I'm definitely going to buy other shades as necessary.

I love this stuff. I have clogg hungry pores and this combined with my twice a day witch hazel swabs keep my face free from a face full of cloggs but with the lovely privilege of being able to be a girly girl. Is not tranfer resistant and would not recommend for oil control.

Japonesque velvet touch finishing power is amazing, a nice soft powder that does not get into your lines and wrinkles. It makes your face look very smooth and a little younger.

I just love it, if you have hair skin, it’s perfect.

One of the best powders I have ever used. Light and doesn't clog pores and doesn't feel 'heavy' on the skin. Excellent for the mature skin as well. For best application, use a brush, swirl on compact and tap off excess powder, then brush gently over face; using a sponge or powder puff may be too heavy. Don't be put off by the chalky white colour! Once applied it is much finer and near invisible, but as said, use a brush.

Whether you like it or not depends if you can get the case open. It does not come with an applicator or sponge or puff and so you need to buy something else again. The powder dust will end up all over your clothes and vanity or desk. You really have to scrub to get any product on your applicator, so, I think there are better products out there. Would not buy again.

I never thought it would be so good! I’ve not really heard of Japonesque before but I thought I would try it as it had good reviews stating a natural look and that’s exactly what I wanted for on top of my SPF which makes me a very shiny, as well as my moisturisers etc. I’m not oily but this did remove the unnecessary shine that moisturiser seems give to smoother skin and made my skin pop. Love it!

This is the first time that I have tried any of this product line. I am very impressed with this finishing powder. It is very fine and leaves my skin matte but not flat. I used a brush to apply it instead of the sponge applicator provided but only because that is the way prefer to apply powders. This powder seemed to blur imperfections including larger pores. I will buy again for sure.
