These are Great, very handy for Outdoor Dutch Oven users.
These are great, as all outdoor Camp Dutch Oven users know. Very portable, space efficient, and useful. You can use them just as advertised, resting the lid on them to prevent grass/dirt from getting on it. But I've also seen them used as a cooking stand, in that these are so heavy-duty that you can place a 'regular' Dutch Oven (the flat-bottom, legless kind) on top, with charcoal underneath (around the edges, not directly in the middle under the rivet, although the rivet looks pretty sturdy too). This is a great use for folks who only have a regular (not Camp) Dutch Oven, and only cook with charcoal infrequently, say while camping. Now, how you'd go about getting charcoal to stay on top of the lid of a regular Dutch Oven is another thing. I've done it in the past by not filling up the Dutch Oven too much, and placing the lid on upside-down, and using tongs to get the edge of the lid up when I need to check the food. You do have to be even more careful in order to keep ash out of the food, though. All in all, I'm glad to have these finally. Seems like table space is always limited, no matter how many camp tables I get - and they're definitely not all safe to put burning hot metal on!

Easy, purpose-built tool does its job well.
I had wanted to purchase this for myself for a new dutch over I recently got. I decided to just save it for later. My wife looked in my shopping cart, saw this and got it for me for last Christmas. There's not a whole lot that can wrong with it, so long as the rivet holds together and there's no reason to think that it won't. It is sturdy, easy to manipulate and does a great job of...well...holding the lid to my DO. No longer to I have to find a rock or other item to put the lid on when serving or checking on the goodies inside the DO. And now I look like all of the other big kids during mealtime at our camp outs.I did make a canvas bag for it to into for storage inside the DO when not in use. That way, there is no damage to the seasoning and any dirt/ash on it does not get inside the DO. I could, of course, just store it under the DO as well but where's the fun in that?I have yet to try it out as a stand for using the lid as a griddle. Not sure I'll do that but nice to have the option.

KEEPS MY LID OFF THE DIRT
This is a good quality piece and functions well at keeping my lids off the dirt, or keeps the hot lids from burning my table. It is a very simple tool, but you really need something to put the hot lid on. Cast iron holds a lot of heat, you can't put that lid just anywhere.I have also used this when I take my dutch ovens and skillets off the fire. They balance nicely while everything cools off. This lid stand also folds nicely into a more compact unit for carrying.

A camp oven essential
The lid stand is essential, and here’s why: Once you’ve made your incredible camp oven chili or wild berry cobbler or slow cooked venison, you’re gonna want to serve it… on a table… hot. Well, the best way to keep it hot is to set the lid, with a few coals, on a lid stand, and set the pot on the lid. Voilà, hot food, nicely presented. Unblemished table. The lid stand itself is made in China. The quality is just okay, but there’s no reason it has to be a lot better. At $10 it’s a bit pricy for a bent wire do-hicky made in China. However, there is also no reason it couldn’t be made in the U.S. and hit the same price point.

But wait there's more
At first I questioned the need for this item until watching a demonstration from a cast iron professional. It didn't take me long to realize how useful this item is. Beyond simply having a place to set the lid while you are cooking without dumping the ash/coal off of the top of the lid in the process, it also prevents unwanted things from sticking to the inside of the lid and dumping off into the meal you are cooking. It doesn't end there though, if you are cooking a meal where you need to brown the meat first or sautee the veggies then this neat little item will become your best friend. Flip the stand over where the plus sign is on the bottom, place about 15 coals around it, then turn the dutch oven lid upside down and place on the stand. (By flipping the stand over it leaves enough room for the dutch oven lid to sit squarely on the stand without the handle of the lid causing it to rock around.) You now have a seasoned cast iron skillet from which to work. One final use is to hang it off of the front of your dutch oven table by one of the hooks and the other 3 arms make a convenient rack to hang tongs, hand towel, and other cooking utensils from.

Great quality stand with many uses!
This is a great lid stand not only for your dutch oven lid but also for other lids as well. You can put the lid right on the stand as shown or you can flip the stand over and flip your lid so the interior side of the lid is facing downward. I actually prefer the second method so the condensation does not drip onto the stand or onto the counter. This stand can also be used as a trivet to keep you dutch oven away from the table surface. Lastly, you can use this stand to elevate your flat cast iron pots/pans to cook with coal. Of note, this stand folds so it is very easy to tuck it into your dutch oven or skillet for transportation. Wow, so many uses! I highly recommend this useful stand.

it's a stand for your lid and it works good. It keeps your lid out of the dirt
Arrived quick and just as described. What can I say...it's a stand for your lid and it works good. It keeps your lid out of the dirt. It does fold flat for storage which is nice. If you are looking for a place to rest your Dutch oven lid besides on a rock or something....you can't really go wrong with this. Well made product.

An Item You Might Not Think Of
If you are going to purchase a dutch oven you might not think of this little item but I tell you you will want it. It will strike you that you should have gotten the lid stand the moment you take the lid off your dutch oven and can not figure out where to place the lid where it will not get dirty well this little stand is the place. Also remember the lid of dutch oven gets very hot and you would not want to set it on something that could be damaged by the heat. It might be considered a nicety but pays for itself in convenience. Seems well made and should last as long as the dutch oven. The only weak link would be the central pivot pin but that could easily be fixed if it should ever fail by using a small bolt, nut and washers. Make this stand part of your dutch oven purchase.

Not as universal as I thought it would.
I really like the design, simple and practical. You can fold it to store in the drawer though the stand looks very nice on countertop. My only disappointment is that I hoped that the stand would work well for all types of lids. It's not the case - large frying pan lids slide over. I gave it 5 stars anyway because, to be fair, the descriptions says, "dutch oven lid stand", it's not meant to be universal.
