Initial thoughts for 3a curls
I used the peppermint scented hair cream for the first time last night, diffused, and finished with the Honeybee Gardens herbal mint alcohol free hairspray, which is amazing.I have dense, curly, color-treated hair, about a 3a, with mixed coarseness and thickness. My hair is highly porous. My favorite product that works best on my hair is Tigi Smalltalk, but the scent is SO strong and sometimes gives me a headache, so I searched for something more natural. I was hesitant about this hair cream bc it contains xanthan gum, which ALWAYS produces dust in my hair. Like, when I shake my curls out after diffusing, there is a cloud of dust flying around my head. 😑 But I love Dr Bronner’s products, and got a bottle of this on sale for $7.50, so figured, why not give it a try.Other things to note: my hair cannot tolerate glycerin, aloe, or any other true humectant. Immediate frizz and/or flash drying.Initial thoughts: this cream has almost zero slip. This did bother me and disappoint me, but as I worked the product into my hair, I realized it was forming curl clumps pretty much on its own! I do the rake and shake method, which I find fastest, and then finger curl a few wonky curls as necessary. My wet results looked really good. I then diffused and it took FOREVER. Typically I can diffuse in about 30 minutes to just about 100% dry, but it took considerably longer with this product. Not sure why, but I’ll continue to experiment. Usually I microplop after styling, but my hair felt pretty dry at that point with this cream, so I didn’t think it was necessary, but it probably was. With the nearly non-existent slip in this product, my hair did not feel wet. I will say that in spite of that, it did NOT flash dry my hair. I’ve never used any other product like this, and I’ve used a lot!Dry results came out great, and then I finished with hairspray. In hindsight I used too much, bc my hair was a bit crunchy. But that was not from the cream. The cream itself helped beautiful curls form and the hold was medium. Just the way I like it.My hair feels ever so slightly oily and weighed down today so I probably used too much. It’s very easy to use too much product when there’s no slip, because you think by adding more you’ll get that feeling. So next time I’ll use less. That said, I did not use nearly as much of this product overall as I do with the Tigi Smalltalk, so while the bottle is on the small side, it should last a month or so (I wash 2-3 times a week).Scent is incredibly mild which I appreciate. Consistently is runnier than I expected, but that’s nice because it emulsifies in the hands nicely and distributes evenly with ease.I gave it 4 stars bc the price is a lot for the size you get (not on sale), and I do wish the product had more slip. But my curls look great and very shiny. I think that if you can grab a bottle on sale it’s worth trying out. Short ingredient list and nothing harmful. Very unique ingredients. Happy customer. Will continue to purchase.

Do not purchase!
The product contains alcohol, alcohol is drying and should not be labeled as organic and used on hair.

Follow the instructions
I think reviews involving personal care products need to remind readers everyone has a different body chemistry and what might work for one may not for another.I've always had skin sensitivities to shampoo, conditioners, soap, etc, since I was an infant. However, about 10 years ago, it blossomed into a full blown allergy. Then about 3 years ago, I also developed an allergy to any products (not just personal care products) which contained perfumes of any kind.My sister brought me a bottle of Dr. Bronner's baby soap to try, having been told it could be used on my hair as well. It worked exceptionally well, but left my hair feeling unpleasant in a number of ways.Eventually, I bought "Dr. Bonner's Organic Hair Creme - Peppermint" (this product) and "Dr. Bonner's Hair Conditioner Rinse - Citrus".After reading a lot of reviews for both products, I carefully followed the instructions and have found both products do exactly as promised, leaving my hair manageable and clean. If anything, I think my scalp has even improved in that I no longer see as much flaking. (And for those interested, I've tried every conceivable product designed for scalp itchiness, flakiness, etc. -- none had any effect and most made the problem worse.)I will admit, I was loath to spend more money on a product which didn't state it was scent free. However, these scents don't appear to be artificial and peppermint (the hair creme) and citrus (rinse) not only don't bother me, they even have a nice scent. If I were to guess, though, the scent doesn't last long, since none of my grand daughters (who live with us) generally are sensitive to odors because of their concern about my allergies. The basic instructions are to:1) wash your hair and rinse with water;2) mix 1 capful of the hair rinse with 8 oz water and pour slowly over your hair to remove your soap/shampoo;3) towel dry and add hair creme. My steps are a bit more, only because I like to wash my hair twice. (It's a baby boomer thing, folks.)1) wash my hair with a glycerin soap;2) wash my hair with Dr. Bonner's baby soap; rinse with water, squeeze out water;3) rinse my hair with diluted (see above) Dr. Bonner's hair rinse;4) gently towel dry;5) using a very, very small amount of hair creme spread across my palms, I gently rub it into a section of hair and repeat for each section. I then use a comb to help evenly disperse the creme. My only complaint: hair cleaning now takes me considerably longer than it did before ... 10 minutes vs 1-2 minutes.

Works well
This product is 'alright'. I have medium-length hair (for a guy), and a blob of this stuff the size of a nickel is just the right amount. I'm not crazy about the smell, which has only a hint of peppermint- it doesn't smell like the Dr. Woods Peppermint soap I use.I apply this in the shower and then rinse. The feel of this in the hair is a little strange and makes the hair a bit stiffer than if I'd used any other off-the-shelf conditioner. That feeling goes away if I comb my hair after the shower, wait an hour, then re-comb. That also takes care of the 'perpetually wet' look my hair has with this stuff in it.
