Handy Hub
Purchased this USB hub to use with my Lenovo X1 laptop since it does not have a true dock capability. I actually have two of these, one for home and one for work. Works well with a multitude of periphials such as my printer, scanner, external hard drive and external floppy drive all hooked up at the same time. One word of caution, make sure you load the most current drivers or your screen, atleast in my application, will change resolution when hooked up. After making sure the most current display link driver was installed everything worked fine. Have not used it with an external monitor, but that will be next. I am running Windows 7 Professional on the X1.

A Technology Coordinator who bought this for his company
Our non-profit organization recently purchased around 20 Lenovo T-430 Ideapads for our staff members. We figured it would be wise to buy these USB Port Replicators as our staff members tend to go off-site with the need of their laptop. After purchasing one of these replicators, I was excited about how easy the installation process was. It was essentially plugging a few cords in, instalilng a driver and rebooting the computer. To my satisfaction, the external keyboard worked, the mouse was responsive, the LCD monitor it was hooked up showed a good quality image, and even the ethernet connection was a success. Everything worked! Or so I thought...As soon as I fired up Internet Explorer 10, I received a looping 'unexpected crash' error. No matter how many times I closed out and back in, I wasn't able to use IE10.Now, I could use another browser and possibly fix the issue, however, this cannot be done as our company website must use an IE browser. Lame, I know. But it is the truth. As an I.T. Coordinator, it is my job to troubleshoot and resolve these issues. It took me hours but after testing this replicator on more than one Lenovo laptop I have found the issue to be driver related.Essentially, this driver crashes IE10 because it changes some values within the registry that causes IE10 to crash when defaulted to GPU rendering rather than Software rendering. This is an option you can change in your Internet Option settings in the Advanced tab. Now, I would be fine with this fix, only that I would have to manually change this value any time a brand new user logs in to the laptop for the first time. I refuse to do that as this is a time waster. Finally, I called Lenovo and told them my story. After 6 representative and a failed supervisor escalated call resulting in a hangup, I was informed that they do not support their Lenovo Replicators. I could go on with their excuses but the fact remains this Replicator doesn't work with a default browser they provide on their laptops.I would not and do not recommend this product to anyone just because of my experience. Lenovo is not accountable for their product. Also, the video feed is slightly delayed and tends to lose quality when changing around in different applications. I could have overlooked this, but it was just another nail in the coffin.TLDR: Doesn't work with IE10, Lenovo doesn't support their product, and the video has an obvious delay when doing minimal work. Don't waste your money or most importantly: your time. I did.

Pretty good deal.
I am pretty happy with this USB Port, have had a few problems with the mouse but it was relatively easy to hook up and doesn't take up much room.

great little docking station
I've used USB docking stations from other vendors before. This was shorter. So it seems a little awkward at first, but it does appear less imposing on desk space.Plug devices in, plug in power, and attach laptop via USB cable. Install drivers for the dock, and you're ready to go.Some users complain that they now need a power and USB cord versus an old school docking port, but that's a minor complaint.

Troubles from the start
I had troubles with this port replicator from the start. I have a Lenovo Ideapad and this was the port replicator recommended since the Ideapad line has no docking station. The driver software didn't install completely and failed causing the Windows blue screen of death. I tried to uninstall the fragment that installed through the control panel several times and the incompletely installed software would not uninstall because it never fully installed. I guess this is a known issue to Display Link because they had an uninstall tool available on their website to take care of the problem. So I decided to just use the device as a USB hub and a speaker output. For the three weeks I owned it, every time I booted up my laptop it wanted to install that awful software. In regular usage it caused my mouse to lag, the sound from my laptop to crackle, and it randomly disconnected at least once a day. I could only restart the device by rebooting my laptop. Perhaps I had a defective unit. I'll never know because I'm not replacing this unit with another one. Instead I'm using a $30 powered USB hub.

USB Port Replicator
This unit helps me eliminate some of the clutter associated with USB and monitor cables. It greatly simplifies my connection with only the power cable and the USB cable plugging into my laptop.

For ASUS EP121
Bought this for my ASUS EP121 Windows 7 Tablet. Now I can use it as a complete laptop replacement for work. Power and one USB port is all I need on the ASUS. Plug the Replicator into a USB port and I have network, keyboard, mouse and a 24" LED display. No more wearing out the mini HDMI and several USB ports each day.The setup was simple. Download the drivers from the internet(No CD drive in the ASUS EP121), install the software then plug in the USB Port replicator.USB Port Replicator is a great idea... Thanks Lenovo!
