Dell 55 inch monitor
I've had this monitor for a couple months now, so, I'm going to review it. I put it on the living room wall and use it with my HTPC as my TV. I say TV, but I don't have cable or an antennae and I get most of my content off the Internet and the rest from Blu-ray and DVD. And none of that is 4K. And that is the point. I originally wanted a 4K monitor, but there always seemed to be something wrong with getting 4K content into one. And the good screens were really expensive. So, with most content being HD or less, I decided to go with a good 1080p monitor. And this one works. It seems solid and well-made (no stuck pixels), so, I'm going to talk a little about how the screen looks. Current TV's seem ultra-contrasty with super-saturated colors and the darks smashed black. That makes the screen "pop" at the video store. But that is not this monitor. Contrast is lower, and I set it to 100%. The colors are softer, but still full. Watching a nature documentary is still gorgeous while still seeming "natural". And SpaceX launches are still dramatic. This monitor does still deliver the experience. And the viewing angle is very wide. You can nearly always read the screen whenever it's in view. But there are some cons. If you put up a solid black background, you can see a soft faintly glowing gray cloud in the lower mid-screen, but not all the way to the edge. I think that is light-leak. But... and I want to add this ... you only see it when viewed from a side-angle. If you view it straight-on, it turns smooth black. In that respect, you might think of this as a one-person home-theater screen. But, in reality, for normal scenes, it still looks good from all angles. You really have to be splitting hairs on this one.Other con: The monitor arrives without the base stand attached, but it does have the base pedestal screwed-in. If you're going to mount this on the wall, you're going to want to remove that. The scanty instructions provide no guide as to how to do that. (It's the four middle allen screws, then pull it off the bottom.)The built-in speakers look like they could be removed too, but they cannot. Don't even try.Leave them. Even though, in reality, you're going to want to add at least a sound bar and a subwoofer.I connected my computer in two different ways, because I was having trouble with my sound driver selecting the wrong speakers. With a DisplayPort cable, the monitor just locked-in to the image. When you looked closely, you could see the pixels were made up of tiny dots, it's that sharp. With a VGA cable, the dots are softer and blurred a little, and I have to admit, I liked this a little better. The pixels are still sharp, but you don't even notice that they're made of dots. One downside of VGA, though, is that you have to fuss around with screen width and centering. I have settings on my computer and there are settings on the monitor and I had to use both. One more plus: the Brightness Control. You can turn this monitor way high to see it in daylight and also turn it way down for night-time when you have no other lights on in the room. I wish it had day/night pre-sets, but holding the down-button is all you get.Overall, I really like this screen and have absolutely no "Buyer's Remorse".

Mediocre image. Not worth it unless you have the wireless module.
55" monitor only review:I have this monitor hooked up to my computer via a 35' HDMI and to an AVR broadcasting DirecTV using the other HDMI. Everything works.PROS-Good variety of input ports - 2 HDMI, 1 DP, VGA.-Nice compact stand. Easy to mount on wall with VESA.CONS-Image quality is adequate for a business presentation but inferior to a good TV or monitor. Mediocre contrast. Colors are a bit washed out. Adjusting brightness/contrast settings helps somewhat but not enough. I have used a ton of Dell monitors including the P4317Q on my primary desktop, and the C5517H image quality does not live up to the typical high standards of Dell.-Remote does not have direct input port switching. It takes a minimum of 3 button presses to change input source.-Resolution of 1920x1080 is low for a screen of this size.-A 55" screen is small and not really adequate for a medium or larger "conference room". It is suitable for a small conference room or office with a few people.OVERALLWhile this product will work fine for a small conference, anybody with an HDMI connection should just get a conventional TV. There are 4k 55" TV's currently available for less than this Dell; for a lot less, you can get a 1080p TV. If this Dell resolution was 4k, it could also be used on your desktop; but being only 1080, it is relegated to TV viewing distances. The benefit I see of this Dell monitor over a conventional TV is the DP and VGA ports and maybe most importantly the optional Dell Wireless Module which allows you to stream video to the monitor. (I did not have the wireless module to test.) The wireless module should come standard with this Dell monitor otherwise I don't see the raison d'être.

Can't connect wirelessly
We purchased this monitor for our conference room with the intention of using it primarily for video conferences. We needed to be able to use the monitor wirelessly so we also purchased the Dell Wireless Module WR517 with the monitor. The description on the adapter claimed that the devices supported Windows 10, which we use Windows 10 on our Dell laptops. We unfortunately assumed that if we had a Dell conference room monitor, a Dell wireless adapter, and Dell laptops connecting to the monitor then set up would be easy and everything would work well together. WRONG. The only way to wirelessly connect to this monitor was via a backdoor through Windows 7. After two failed attempts by IT consultants to find a backdoor way through Windows 10 and two wireless adapters, we had no choice but to return this monitor and the adapter. The sound and picture on the monitor were both fine but it was incredibly inconvenient to be restricted to using an HDMI cable to connect. If the monitor and wireless adapter are advertised as being Windows 10 compatible AND built for each other, and the instructions implied connecting was as easy as connecting the adapter to the monitor and turning everything on... then I don't think it's unreasonable to expect these two products to work as advertised and to be very frustrated at the time wasted trying to find life hacks to make them functional. We were told by IT that they had had the same experience trying to set up the same monitor/adapter for a different client.
