I wasn't sure what to expect with this hair clay as it was my first time using a hair styling product. I love it. It smells great and holds my hair in place all day. Sometimes I even wake up the next day with my hair looking perfect. When it doesn't look perfect after waking up, it usually is pretty easy to move my hair back into the correct position. Initially after application, my hair feels somewhat stiff, but as the day goes on, it feels more naturally thick, which is what I want. This is an excellent product in my opinion and I will definitely buy it again once my supply runs out.

If you care about your hair enough to use a product like this, you're probably also wearing cologne. This product, however, smells like a barbershop and overpowers any personal scent you may have.It's a great clay product, it just smells bad. And boy is it strong (the smell and the hold).

I've tried different products to spike my hair like gels, pomades, putty, and pastes but this is the one I like the most. I usually buy my hair products at either Walmart or Target for <$7 so I have to admit I thought this was kind of expensive at first but I decided to order one to try it. I liked it so much that I just reordered a pack of 3 (cheaper too). I like the smell and the texture it gives to my hair. I like how it makes my hair look dry and gives that just-woke-up messy style. Again, it smells really good, kinda like cologne. I definitely recommend you try it to see if it works for you, I'm glad I did.

ABOUT ME:I have short cut, thick, straight hair and typically use products which are marketed as "clay" or "fiber". I look for products which have NO SHINE (I want a dry, matte look) and want something with a strong hold without being sticky or where you can visually see the product in your hair. I want it to hold my style in place, but look dry when in my hair.IDEAL PRODUCT:In the past, I used the Garnier Fructis Style Play Style Pliable Clay, Strong, 2 oz (1 Pack) which has long since been discontinued. I no longer wanted to buy whatever leftover inventory is available from re-sellers, so I've been on the lookout for something else which can replicate the texture and hold of that product, and it's unfortunately been a long string of disappointments.MOST RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT:I've tried the American Crew Fiber, 1.75-Ounce Jar which is probably the most "mainstream" product out there which markets itself as this exact type of product (strong hold, matte finish) but I found the hold to be too weak for my taste (and also too expensive!) so I've been trying various products on Amazon to find the perfect one for me.ABOUT THIS PRODUCT:I tried the Bad Lab Like A Boss's Strong Hold and Matte Finish Hair Clay for Men, Travel Size, 1.76 oz because I figured it was a relatively small container at a reasonable price. Upon opening the container I thought it had a pretty good scent, but the texture was too creamy for my preference and it didn't seem to have a strong enough hold. Worse still, it still had too much of a "shine" for what I like. The hold also didn't seem to stay for the whole day which was a disappointment.WHAT I RECOMMEND INSTEAD:After searching long and hard, I finally came across the Strong Hold Hair Wax Clay for Men - Best Hair Paste for a Stylish Matte Finish, 2.1 ounce which literally does EVERYTHING I'm looking for in a hair product (which if you can't tell, is pretty specific). It does have a mild scent to it, but it has EXTREMELY good hold, it doesn't have ANY shine at all and it lasts all day. My only complaint is that it's REALLY good at holding your hair in place and it can be a bit of a pain to wash out... but it's a small price to pay for giving me exactly what I wanted.The Bad Lab product wasn't awful, I just didn't think it worked great for my hair type and style and would recommend the Triple Thread product instead.

I use all Bad Lab products and each one is fantastic. They are lightly scented so you are not overpowered by a smell It holds incredible for hours and looks great.

I'd give it a B+ This hair product was not the same old stuff with a different label, so I give them credit for that. I have short hair and what I need a product to do is hold down the cowlick in back but give me some volume on top/front. Why Bad Lab was not a home run: I've had stronger holds, the finish is wetter than I like and the scent is very strong, almost like having cologne on your hair. I'll use it up, but will keep looking for an A.
