This innovative and sleek chess board is a true game-changer, and I highly recommend it to all chess enthusiasts, from beginners to seasoned players.First and foremost, the craftsmanship of the Square Off Pro is outstanding. The board is made with high-quality materials that exude durability and elegance. The attention to detail in the construction is evident, providing a smooth and satisfying playing surface. Board curvy, does not lay flat, buggy subscription software
I really wanted to like this board! I'm so heart broken that it's so garbage. Here is why;* The board does not roll out flat. It curves and waves. First of all, this alone made me want to return the board. Secondly, the software is really reliant on the pieces being positioned correctly. When they just fall out of place because of the hills and valleys on the board. Well..* A subscription service seemed to be a bit over-the top for me to be able to play more than 5 matches against an adaptive AI. IF the physical experience was flawless, I might not have reacted to it and just paid.* Very unhelpful customer service. Som person replied, saying that "I would like to bring to your attention that for the straight and curly board, it is recommended to roll it on the opposite side and to maintain the weight for a specified duration." - I have no idea what that means. Maintain the weight?

Get over the board practice using a real life board
Board looks greatI have left mine flat as I only use it at my deskBattery life is goodEasy to get games on Lichess and chess.comNew company support is much better, they are responsive to emails and will follow up with phone call.I had to download the Miko chess app to use as the Apple Store does not have a chess off app at this time. The app works great

Companion app requires unnecessary subscription. Cash grab.
Really had my hopes up, kind of disappointed. The board itself is not an issue, in fact it's pretty nice for the price. The only complaint I can make is that the material the board surface is made out of has issues flattening out, and requires some manipulation to fix or your pieces will not sit level. People complain about errors and invalid moves, but generally this is easy to fix. I've only had it play an incorrect move once.My biggest issue is with the app. It costs Square Off NO money to run an AI on your OWN phone to play against, and it costs no money to allow the board to play and record over-the-board games to a PGN. Yet, for some reason, the app locks both of those features behind a $29/year subscription. Without a "PLUS" subscription - The AI can only go up to ~1500 ELO, you cannot play an adaptive AI for more than 5 games, you can not play more than 5 OTB games with recording enabled, you cannot start the game from a custom starting position, you cannot export PGNs from the app, you cannot get hints, and you can only play certain puzzles. There is absolutely no good reason I should have to pay MORE money after already purchasing the board to be able to play games on my OWN equipment. The real product sold here is the app, not the board.
