This thing is just so great
This is an excellent product, as long as you realize that the phrase "hatchet" means different things in Japan versus the United States.This is a very heavy blade, much more so than any kitchen tool, but light enough to be a small outdoor blade and sharp enough to be a versatile tool. Plus it just looks so great.

Functions more like a knife
The finish of this tool is exceptional. Mirror finish to the blade and an attractive wooden handle. The scabbard is clever in design. However, this feels more like a knife than a hatchet. Sharp, yes, but is quite light. Also, not a full tang, the blade only extends two or three inches into the handle. May make a good utility knife, but not a hatchet.
