For me, it was hunt or hang it up!
After 3 yrs without waterfowling due to a right shoulder progressively ravaged by RA, I broke down and at 68 yrs old, had a full replacement. A year later, (mid-season), my son and I were talking about the new line of Stoeger shotguns since Benelli took over ops ( he's a Benelli field rep). 10 days later, knowing I was always a pump gun guy, he showed up w/a new Stoeger P-3000 in composite camo and asked, "When ya wanna go?" First couple weeks I went twice a week-some moderate pain and some discoloration, but bearable I thought. Following week son took off work. First three days we shot limits. That nite, looking in the mirror, I knew the pain level was too high and the huge nearly black bruise and large bloodsack forming on my bicep meant something had to change or I was done. Obvious 1st step was a recoil pad, so after doing my home work I went for the decelerator. I call the difference "appreciable" because I appreciate more than I can express being able to continue hunting ducks/geese with my son again! And it wasn't even a close call-I don't even consider recoil anymore and my shooting improved a greatly! I later decided to shorten the LOP on the Stoeger-took off 3/8" from factory specs including the 1" for the decelerator and ordered a new decelerator in small. I then shot the stock cavity full of expanding foam, let it harden, trimmed and sanded exess flush, and installed new pad which fit like a glove, just like the first one-no slipping or movement on either. These are excellent products which I HIGHLY recommend! Thank you Pachmeyer!

Good fit for a KSG
I have this installed on my KSG. Definitely made a difference in felt recoil. Shoulder feels fine after a long range session.

Nice pad, I use it for military surplus. See compatibility in my review
I bought one of these after tearing 3 different Butler Creek slip on pads. Those are junk, avoid them. The rubber tears as you're putting it on.This is a nice pad, much better quality than the Butler Creek. Much more comfortable and easier to slip on.The medium pad fits the following surplus military rifles:98 Mauser style rifles (Turk, Yugo, German are the ones I've tried so far)Type 99 ArisakaMosin Nagant 91/30Finn M39 Mosin NagantEgyptian Hakim 8mm semi autoEnfield No1 MK 3

Small size fits Winchester Models 12 & 94 very well & reduces kick
The Small size Pachmayr Decelerator Slip On fits both of my Winchesters, a 1956 Model 94 .30-30 Carbine & 1948 Model 12 12 ga. pump shotgun very well, the 94 nearly perfect. And the Brown color is an excellent accent for both stocks. Shot 20 rounds .30-30 with recoil pad on my carbine and didn't even notice the kick, so all is well. Will post recoil test results of 12 ga. rifled slugs when done.Well, I had the opportunity to test the pad on the Model 12 by shooting 10 rounds of rifled slugs; it still kicks as slugs always do, but less this time, and no marks nor bruising on the shoulder.Bottom line, both pads do the job they were designed for. Kudos to Pachmayr.TomC

Shoot 'em up! Feel less kick.
I bought the small one and it works for my Remington 870 Tactical...but I think the medium may fit better. It does help soften any blow though. It helps you get the gun right in the shoulder pocket, a good cheek weld, and stays in place if you shoot it right. Oddly enough, if you shoot at a weird angle it makes the thing start to fall off so it helped me ensure I was shooting the gun correctly. I did 350 7.5 shot shells, 60 slug shells, and 100 buck shells over 4 days with no bruising, no tenderness. I recommend this product!

Shockingly effective
As I’m writing this review I realize when I ordered this thing I didn’t realize it was a Pachmayr. Probably because it was so inexpensive and I just I didn’t notice but they make pretty good stuff usually.I don’t get to use the stock on my shotgun that I would like. I have to make a compromise for functionality and portability. So I have a very stiff collapsible arm style stock that is a very unusual size and quite frankly it hurts. It started getting to the point where I didn’t want to use it Unless I was using the 1 3/4” mini shells and those are almost impossible to find now. There’s some very popular products in the market but I couldn’t get them to fit on the unusual end of the stock that I use. It’s a fold out but stock that is wider than most. I actually tied a block of firm on the end of it one time and tried that out and it felt a lot better so I knew I had to come up with some kind of solution. I found this and it was very reasonably priced and I was pretty much sure it wasn’t gonna work out. This thing is shaped like a traditional stock and I just didn’t think it was gonna fit. But because it came in three sizes I ordered the largest one and figured I would give it a try. Much to my surprise it worked amazingly. The opening is large enough that I can see that on the end of my stock and it stays secure while I’m using the gun.It looks like it has several different types of honeycomb / baffle structure in their design to absorb the shock and it’s surprisingly effective. Even with 3 inch shells this thing will save your shoulder. I sometimes go shoot with a lady friend of mine who is not a very big person and the one time she tried to use a 12 gauge the results were both frightening and comical. She can actually fire slugs using this. It’s still not her favorite thing but this makes the difference between being able to use it or not at all.One other thing that’s a little bit funny is that my laser fits perfectly inside of the shock absorber. So when I’m not using it I put the laser inside of the cover to protect it while it’s in the scabbard pouch.Pretty amazing for twenty bucks.

A solid product
Fits like a dream. Looks great. Works even better. I am 6'1" with long arms. This is just enough of an add on to allow me to fire shorter stocked rifles. With this added length I'll be able to fire any SKS, Lee Enfield or other short length rifles and shotguns. I have to buy a small size for them I now realize though. The recoil absorption is an added bonus. This shines though at giving a short rifle the right reach for us taller crew out there. A solid product. I'll be buying more. However most will be of the small size, as most of my rifles I need more reach on are small stocked rifles and shotguns made in Russia, Asia, and Europe. The Medium size is pretty large folks. It won't fit an Enfield or SKS. It's a solid inch or 2 too big so it will not look right at all. Medium fit my Winchester Cooey 870 perfectly though. So higher comb stocks for the medium size. Short compact rifle butts are going to want the small size. I think most short rifles will need the small size. Large must be darned big seeing how big Medium is!

Amazing recoil reduction
Very effective. I have a single shot shotgun (CVA Hunter) that kicks so hard that it leaves bruises every time. I compared online reviews and was lead to this product. I am very satisfied. Recoil reduction is so effective, that I really could shoot all day with this. I have tested it with buckshot and slugs too, and it made them all manageable. Mine is a medium size and fits the stock.Edit and update(July 2019):I sold my single shot in favour of a Mossberg 500 in 12 gauge. I have added this pad to it and the medium size fits nice and snug. It fits better than it did on the CVA and does not slip off as it did occasionally. Looks good on the black stock, and I just test fired it with over 50 rounds of target load, a 1 ounce slug, and 00 buck. No bruising at all, and it makes shooting the Mossberg a real treat. It increases the length of pull a bit, but it still fits me well. I could have shot all day, but the sun went down before I ran out of ammo.

Top.

Great shoulder-saver!
This saved my shoulder after an operation as I returned to shooting and being ‘on the mend’. Just the right amount of stickyness, meaning that it doesn’t fall off, even when it’s the correct size for my stock. It looks good on my Winchester 30-30
