The 46T gear makes a big difference
This review comes after about 15 rides with this new cassette and is paired with a sram gx derailleur. At instillation all I needed to get it shifting clean was a small B screw adjusment and it has been shifting perfectly since instillation. Before putting this cassette on my bike I had a Sram 11-42. If you are wondering whether or not the larger 46T cog will make a noticeable difference in your riding, it will. I clear technical sections on climbs that i used to mostly fail on and overall my climbing times have improved significantly. I've been setting new climbing PR's on Strava that had stood still for quite some time and they've improved by minutes-not seconds. With the larger cog you obviously cant pedal as fast so it would seem counter-intuitive that I would bike faster but I am because I use the 46T cog on the steepest and/or most technical sections and get WAY less fatigue, therefore leaving me with much more pedaling energy for everything else. Of course, I do still get tired riding so don't expect it to take away all the pain but it does help. I also swapped out my front chainring from a 32T to a 28T previous to swapping out cassettes. But I can say that with the small 9T cog and 28T chainring I haven't yet maxed out that combination to where I felt I was missing a harder gear. This cassette gives the best of both worlds. The people who may not want this cassette-super strong pedal mashers who just simply don't need a bail out gear. Or people who's whole drivetrain is worn out or could use an upgrade to the whole thing-then you may want to look at the sram gx eagle because for only $500 you get the entire drivetrain and the 50T cog-which paired with a 32T chaingring gives you nearly identical High and Low gear ratios to what I am running. And if you dont care to get the 9T cog for faster pedaling you may as well get the Box or Sunrace 11-46 cassette and save $. But this ethirteen cassette is much lighter and I do really like having the 9T cog so I'm glad I went this route. One more note, I've read that this cassette at one point made some kind of noise but that they made a slight change to its build that was supposed to eliminate the noise. So far mine is perfectly quiet so I think they fixed that problem.

Smooth and reliable
The main reason for writing this review is to counter some of the negative comments I've seen. I am sure that as with any product experiences will vary.First, installation was fairly easy. It requires two chain whips but I found that by using my existing chain whip and the old chain I could jury rig the second whip. The only issue I had was in sizing the new chain after I installed the cassette. I couldn't seem to get that right so I took the bike to my LBS and they did the final adjustments, including a new B-screw.I have now ridden 405 miles and about 58,000 feet of vertical in some rugged conditions in the mountains of Northern Utah and on the trails around Moab. Shifting is smooth, quiet and reliable with no adjustments or maintenance. I do clean my chain regularly and keep it lubed but that's about it.

Too noisy

12 Speed? 12 Speed? We don't need no stinkin' 12 speed!
Better range than any competitor, sets up with existing Shimano XTR without any adjustment needed. Shifts as good as the Shimano 11-42 it replaced.

Loud and creaky after 5 rides
Also shifts like crap even after adjusting chain lenght, b-screw, upper/lower limit, and barrel adjust. Don't waste your time, spend a couple extra bucks and buy Eagle.

Impressive performance and customer service. No need for eagle.
I got a 2016 Bronson CC toward the end of the summer last year. I got a good deal on it. The 2017 model comes equipped with X01 Eagle. I'm not in perfect shape so I was drooling over the new 1x12 offering after struggling with some of the steeper climbs. I was not interested in spending $1000+ on a basically new bike. I saw there are some different kits to add range to an x01 cassette from wolf tooth and some other companies but they ether require you to buy another heavier cassette for the kit to work or to pry apart the $300+ X01 cassette. Late in 2016 I saw that ethirteen came out with this. After waiting for it to be back in stock I ordered it and installed it on my Bronson. I use it with an elliptical 30t chainring and it works very well. The shifting is smooth, though I'm not sure if it is quite as fast downshifting in the lower gears compared to the stock X01 cassette. The extra range helps a lot. I like that it has 2 pieces that can be replaced so you don't have to throw out an entire cassette for a bad cog. I managed to bend the 46t cog on this TSR race cassette and was dismayed. I had only gotten about 4 solid rides on it. I wasn't sure how it happened exactly, it might have been a stick that got wedged in it but I contacted ethirteen. They responded very quickly and after sending a short video of the bent cog they said they would send out a replacement set of the lower cogs. I really like how good their customer service is. This cassette costs about as much as an X01 cassette but has replaceable cogs, it is lighter than an eagle cassette, and has more range than eagle. I'm glad that ethirteen came out with this solution for people with a 1x11 that want more range. The only major downside besides bending a cog is that it is difficult to determine the correct chain length. I had the chain sized at a local shop and they said that the chain had to be the exactly the size they made it. One link more or less and it wouldn't work well.
