SCYTHEKOTETU CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (SCKTT-1000)

Wow. Quiet AND cool.
As the title says!! Fitted to a gigabyte d3h-z77 motherboard on an intel i5 3570k 1550 socket.I'd dealt with using a stock intel cooler (I know..) for a couple of years before my i5 CPU started topping out at 100C under sustained load (video rendering) in recent weeks. Figured it was time to say goodbye to the intel cooler and usher in something new. I read a lot of reviews online where Scythe's products came highly recommended. The Kotetsu seemed like the best balance between cost and performance, so my search was quickly concluded. Set-up is a little confusing as it isn't initially clear what parts go where and since there's so many parts included (fantastic compatibility!!) I was worrying if I had missed out anything during the setup. I watched a couple of youtube videos to double check I'd sorted it all correctly and was good to go.The package comes with some thermal paste, which was a good shout as I'd actually forgotten to purchase any before picking this up!After installation I saw immediate results. My idle temperature was 50C on my old cooler, and now it sat at 28C quite happily. Under load I was hitting 53C, so decided to do a bit of overclocking and pushed my i5 to 4.9Ghz, where I haven't seen the temperatures go over 58C. Thoroughly pleased by the results and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

A hidden gem that I can't recommend enough.
The Kotetsu has one big problem... it's availability (for a reasonable price).I bought this to replace my Corsair H100i. Having developed an obsession with quiet computers, the H100i's pump (which I might add was in full working order) was just too loud. The Cooler Master 212 EVO I installed in my server is also too loud but that's because the stock fan (like those that come with the H100i) has less than desirable sound characteristics at low RPM. The fan that comes with the Kotetsu however is one of the best stock fans I've encountered. It sits nicely along side the NB eLoop B12-2's and my Scythe GT 1850's. It does have some minor clicking at low RPM but it should only be an issue in the quietest systems and for the more demanding silence enthusiasts. A slight bump in RPM does alleviate the clicking but it comes at the cost of a higher overall noise level. Other than that, the noise qualities are generally pleasant. The thermal performance is also as impressive as the reviews say.The mounting system is fantastic. Certainly far, far better than the 212 EVO's. It makes installation much more precise. One word of advice though... Remover the CPU cover before installing the mounting hardware. When I installed the mounting bracket in my LGA 1155 system, I found that you cannot remove the CPU slot cover with the bracket in place. I had to remove it in order to remove the CPU cover. Speaking of mounting, one other thing to note is that only one set up fan mounting clips is supplied. So if you want to push/pull, you'll have to source additional clips.I could go on but I'd only be further repeating what SPCR said in their review.... it really is a fantastic cooler for the price and for anything under £35, it's an absolute bargain.Come to think of it, there is another problem... it makes me regret buying the 212 EVO for my server!

I literally cannot hear it.
At first I thought it was broken.Because it was so quiet I couldn't hear it when I turned my PC on*. But sure enough it works and works well: very good thermal performance considering it operates in complete silence. Fantastic! And easy to install.*For the sake of fairness I should say that I am using an insulated case designed to reduce noise, but even with the side-panel off it's the quietest non-passive cooler I've ever heard.I just wish it was sold in the UK; waiting for delivery from Japan was painful, but the product is so worth it!

and it keeps things lovely and cool, fan is virtually silent only a bit noisy ...
Attached to a 7th Gen i5 processor, and it keeps things lovely and cool, fan is virtually silent only a bit noisy after gaming for more than an hour even then its not distinguishable over the case fans, well made, very heavy, a good investment indeed.

Decent heatsink and cheaper than many
Does a good job at keeping my i5-4670k (overclocked to 4.4Ghz at 1.265v) cool.I'm going to replace the fan with an Artic F12 PWM though, as they tend to run a bit quieter. Not that the stock one is noisy but I notice it more than I'd like and even if the Artic doesn't cool as well I have room for slightly higher temps (runs at about 65c now when gaming).
