I thought I'd had the best Mountainhouse breakfast.....then I tried this meal!! Top Notch!!
Now this was a good meal. I thought I had tried the best Mountainhouse breakfast and my top 2 were the Breakfast Skillet and the Biscuits and Gravy. Now, this Breakfast Hash is in the mix for my top spot. Sometimes these meals can be a bit bland, but the mild spiciness that the Hash has makes sure that you aren't wishing that you would have packed in some salt, pepper or hot sauce. The ingredients included shredded beef, black beans, chilies, corn and shredded potatoes. The beef was actually really tasty, didn't have a lot of fat/gristle and rehydrated all the way through. The other ingredients were really good and tasty, high quality.Usually the recipe calls for too much water and the meal gets a little soupy, but this one called for the perfect amount.I was totally full and ate every bite. The taste was amongst the best I've had and I was ready for a long day of backpacking. You should certainly add this meal to your list and give it a shot. It'll make your trip much more enjoyable

What a pleasant surprise.
I purchased about 12 boxes of various flavours of your Mountain house freeze dried foods. I did so because I was truly expecting difficult times to occur in the UK.Well they did, after my jobloss; money for travel and food was in short supply - but I remembered I had loads of the MH packs in my bedroom. I tried the Breakfast Hash - not exactly eggs, beans and bacon, but noodles, sweet corn, and good sized bits of beef really hit the spot; pleasant tasting and very filling, if I were hiking I could easily do a four to five our walk over rough ground after a MH Breakfast Hash. I would highly recommend if you are a bug-out doomsday prepper or need to stock food for you and your family for a rainy day. I look forward to trying and reviewing other freeze dried foods in your wide range. Thanks MH.

Not Bad But Not My Favorite Mountain House Meal
I have tried a number of Mountain House dehydrated meals on backpacking trips and I generally hold them in pretty high regards. This one is okay but not great. Please note the "spicy" in the title, as this southwest breakfast hash does indeed have kick. It's not off the charts hot, but it does have a moderate slow mellow burn. I like spicy food, so that doesn't bother me. What I did find a bit disappointing was how much the hash relies on the green chili peppers for its flavor - that's the main ingredient and it dominates the taste. The end result is pretty one-dimensional. To be clear, it doesn't taste bad - particularly considering the fact that it's a "just add water meal" - but with a little more work the flavor could be better.I'm attaching a picture for kicks. The Amazon images show a skillet of potatoes, veggies, and meat that I can only presume are supposed to represent this hash. Mine came out looking quite different. It wasn't unpleasant in texture or appearance, but it looks nothing like the picture.Overall, it's not a bad meal for the trail but I've found other MH items I like better. If you love the flavor of green chilis, go for it. Otherwise, you might want to opt for something else.

Just the right kick
This one and the biscuits and gravy are my two favorite mountain house breakfast Varieties. I like spicy food but I can't really consider this spicy but it has just the perfect kick to give it a good flavor. I used about 2 ounces less water than the package called for and let mine sit for about 14 or 15 minutes and I felt it was the perfect consistency. I really like the potatoes and peppers mixed together in this recipe and like I said earlier it gives it just a little cake without being considered too spicy. A great way to start off the morning on a camping trip or even as a quick meal at home. The portion is for two people but is really a little small for two adults If only eating this one package, but if substituting with a few other snacks it could make a good meal for two people.

Plenty tasty, and it's the right amount of spice for a weekend in the woods away from a toilet.
Make no mistake, the final product will look nothing like the included image, but it's plenty tasty, and it's the right amount of spice for a weekend in the woods away from a toilet. Dropped the water by about 1/4 cup from the recommended amount. Not soupy at all on the first try (as some of them can be until you get the balance right). Texture, taste, and heartiness were solid. Spice was present, but not strong. This and the biscuits and gravy are now my go to for hot breakfasts on the trail!

It's ok
It was easy to prepare with little clean up. You just add a little boiling water and stir a couple times then it's breakfast time. The potatoes didn't seem like they were cooked completely and the flavor was a little watery. This was the only meal by them that I didn't love especially being one of the most expensive ones. I didn't find it spicy.

Good product
I haven't had a disappointment with MH and I think I've tried nearly all the dinner and breakfast varieties. The breakfast hash was no exception --goid taste and texture. Just follow the directions. The pouches are not expensive if you're dividing it between 2 people. I usually supplement with a snack and I'm satisfied. I use these for camping but it's good to have some extra MH in the pantry, just in case of an emergency

Delicious and filling
Fantastic breakfast, and definitely enough for two people, unless you are an extreme eater. I can eat a lot, and this was more than enough for my son and I. Add a tortilla, and you are really good. I would consider maybe adding a splash of Tabasco, but totally optional
