THIS IS A BEAST!
After 13 seasons I came to the realization it was time to replace my Craftsman weed wacker. While it served me well, it no longer had the power to effectively do its job. Did my research to find a unit that was a good value for the money with good power and could possibly last as long as my previous unit. After comparing the information, reviews and price on several units this was my choice. Having given it a full workout over the weekend, I can say I am pleased with my purchase. This weed wacker is a beast. It effectively handles tall grass and weeds. Will even beat down an occasional twig with a little persistence. I already have a straight shafted brush cutter (saw blade) for twigs and the like so it's not needed for that. I've not owned a Poulan branded product before but have owned Husqvarna. Being made at the same plant = same company figured it had a good chance of being made with the same parts / quality. In reading reviews I can see a carburetor adjustment may need to be made right out of the box for it to run properly. That was also the case with mine. It might be a good idea to purchase the HIPA carb adjustment tool #530035560 available on Amazon with it. If you are not familiar with carb adjustment on these and have some mechanical ability, a Google search will render the information on how to do it. Weight of unit is about 13 pounds but this is the price you pay for 25cc of power. The good news is with the lower handle in the proper position there is good balance and the weight shouldn't be a problem for the average user. The string head is a Tap-n-Go. So if you pay attention you'll have no problem keeping the right amount of line extended. If it does break off at the spool and you find yourself taking apart the head to feed line back out, you could have a problem. Your line will likely unwind from the spool and you will have to rewind it all. I'm hoping there is a way to prevent this from happening as I get more familiar with use. Time will tell. At this point I am happy with my purchase. If it lasts as long as my Craftsman, I will have no complaints. If it doesn't, you'll read about it here.

Great trimmer if you have a month to wait for warranty repairs
Not normally a review writer, but wanted to pass along the word regarding this trimmer and Poulan Pro in general. Setting up the trimmer out of the box wasn't too difficult, although the wingnuts and bolts to secure the handle and trimmer head guard had to be tightened with a wrench and pliers to get them tight enough to stay in place. So it goes. The real fun began when the trimmer head disintegrated in the middle of the second use. Called Poulan Pro, they told me to take it to a local small engine repair shop and see if it was covered by the warranty, and if so to have it repaired. Inconvenient considering the hours of the repair shop were 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday (some folks have jobs), but that's out of their control. Repair shop looked at me like I had 6 heads when I came in, Poulan Pro warranty work? Huh? What? After some back and forth they agreed to take it, again that's out of Poulan Pro's control. After over a month and multiple follow ups I finally got the weed trimmer back, credit where credit's due Poulan Pro stood by the warranty. Luckily during that month+ my grass decided not to grow and I didn't have to mow or trim once. Actually no, I had to borrow a trimmer multiple times. The operations of a mom & pop small engine repair shop are out of Poulan Pro's control, the question is why do they send you there in the first place? I called to provide feedback to Poulan Pro and was met with tepid indifference, a shrug of the shoulders and a "Not our fault." That's where Poulan Pro lost me as a future customer who happens to be in the market for more power equipment. Fool me once Poulan Pro, shame on you, fool me twice Poulan Pro, shame on me and that's not going to happen. Now I can understand why I see the lawn care companies using Stihl products instead.

Where's the STRING???
I just received my new Poulan Pro and used it for an hour. It started right away and trimmed great with lots of power.I am happy with the product but disappointed with the string spool. I tapped the trimmer 4 times to let out string and on the fourth tap, there was no string left, (THIS IS CHEAP). This is probably my fifth or sixth string trimmer I have owned and I never before have purchased a new trimmer with anything less than a full spool of string. I'll still speak and rate the product well but until I receive at least one complete, full spool of string, free, I will not be satisfied. I'll update you if there is a good reason.Bob

Poulan Pro PR25CD, 16 in. 25cc 2-Cycle Gas Curved Shaft String Trimmer
Poulan Pro PR25CD, 16 in. 25cc 2-Cycle Gas Curved Shaft String Trimmer. It's easy enough to operate, but you have to make sure to position the handle correctly in order to get a good balance while holding & operating it. Without positioning it correctly, you'll were yourself out trying to counter the weight. It's good for Home Use, not every day or heavy demand use.

... this for only I season but so far so good I know some people don't like this weed eater ...
I have had this for only I season but so far so good I know some people don't like this weed eater but I have had no problems so far. first off get a good grade of line the little bit that comes with it is not that good so get some that has an edge to it also make sure you let it warm up for about 30 to 45 seconds and check your tightening bolts on the shaft, and make sure you have good gas I use 100 percent gas no ethanol (it is bad for small engines) it is not commercial grade but great for week end warriors I have a very large yard so this unit has been put to the test I will know more next year but like I said so far so good.

Great trimmer for the price
Using this for a month now. Pros: Starts easily. Cuts nice, easy to re-string. Like the size of the gas tank. Cons: not a lot of power, bogs down in thicker grass. On mine, the handle where the trigger is, is a little loose and doesn’t appear to be properly put together. Not much I don’t like about this trimmer. Works well, and can’t beat it for the price. Bought this one to replace my ryobi that suddenly stopped working.
