Will these pellets work in a Masterbuilt electric smoker?

I have used them in my MES in the chip hopper and they do work but really no better than wood chips do. By far the best way I have found to use them with the MES is in an A-Maze-N pellet burner. I have gotten over 10 hours of smoke on one load of pellets. You just have to protect the pellets from drippings and make sure you have good airflow in the smoker to keep them burning. With this setup I can do two pork butts overnight without ever having to check on the smoker or add fuel.

does your smoker have to be smoking at all time during the time process?

I have an electric smoker. My smoker does not smoke the entire time I am using this product, but the pellets work very well. I would buy this again.

Will these work in a small smoker box set on a gas grill grate? And do they need to be soaked?

Yes it will work in small smoker box on grill and no they don't need to be soaked. Just make sure they are lit well and smoking before starting your meat. Enjoy!
