Quiet, and Simply elegant.....
Quiet and elegant are two words that describe this CD from Katy Moffatt. Blessed with one of the more evocative voices in Country Music today, hers is a voice that sings of the simpler things in life and makes us realize that these are the things that matter the most. For years Katy Moffatt (along with her brother Hugh) has been quietly singing and writing songs that cover a wide range of American Music - from Country, to Folk, to Blues, to Rock, and has paved the way for many of today's contemporary "Country Rock" singers - why she is not better known remains a mystery to me. This all acoustic album of mostly Country/Folk flavored songs from the late 80s remains one of my favorites.

Worth every one of the five stars
What makes an album worthy of five stars? If you collect music and own hundreds of albums then surely there is a limit to those worthy of such an accolade? Well what always amazes me is despite collecting and listening to music for many years there is always someone you somehow have missed. I first discovered Katy Moffatt on a Tom Russell disc and noted that the two of them had collaborated writing many songs. She has a fascinating voice offering a lovely combination of the purity of a folk singer and the gentle "twang" of a country artist. many of the tracks are self penned and three from the pen of her brother Hugh. The guitar work of Andrew Hardin is a sheer joy to listen to and the whole album should be held up as example of just what can be achieved by a first class singer and simple but polished guitar work. Be sure to give this wonderful CD a try and like me I am sure you will seek out all Katy Moffatt's albums.
