Great light duty Bait-feeder, I love it !!
I love the reel, awesome light duty Bait-feeder. Yes it's not made for shark, or Shamo... But perfect for medium size fish. It has some flex, but that comes with non-metal spinners. Nonetheless, still an awesome reel.

Love it
I caught a first bull red on this reel last week. It casts really far and is smooth like a butter. I also love the price!!!

Know its limits. For a cheap real, it's great.
This is one of the cheapest SW surf reel you can find from one of the big three manufacturers who make their own reels (Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma). It's a good reel for what it is and it has its limitations for uses it isn't meant suited for. Many low reviews are about it flexing when used for crab snaring. This isn't the intended use of this reel. Crab snaring requires lots of torque and is notoriously harsh on gear. Reels better suited to crab snaring would be full metal body. This reel has a graphite body.Have used this for a full season for crab snaring from a pier together with the Okuma Crab Snare Special rod. The rod itself is quite stiff and supplemented the flex this reel has. The combo worked well enough for crab snaring, but would be better if I had paired the rod with an all metal reel. Will be swapping out reels for the next season and pairing this reel with an Okuma Rockaway HD surf rod for surf fishing instead.

Crap
I couldn't wait for this reel to arrive. Unfortunately it's been 6 months before I could use it. I'm actually surf fishing this week and used it for crab snares. So with the bait, snare and a 4 oz. pyramid sinker we're talking 5 oz. maybe. I got the 8000 thinking it would be fine. When I went to retrieve the snare the stem bend SO much it was VERY difficult to bring the snare in WITHOUT a crab on it. I can only imagine what retrieving something with a real fight would be like. So because I'm beyond the return window this "reel of crap" will get thrown in a drawer as soon as I get home and I'll get something that can do the job. Bad, bad, bad purchase. I can literally bend it back and worth with my hands. Too bad because I have several Okuma's that I love. This one is not one of them. This should get a Minus 5 stars. Worthless.

Bail Can Close When Casting 😡
Used 06/27/25 .for the first tim; lost two of my expensive lures due to the bail automatically closing while casting.
