Stylish and affordable couch
We love this couch! It is a bit firm, but still comfortable. Looks much more expensive than it actually is. It was easy to assemble as well. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a mid century affordable couch.

Firm couch looks great in our formal room
The Novogratz Vintage Mix Sofa Futon is an attractive firm grey sofa that folds down into a guest bed, but the key word to keep in mind is “firm.”The sofa comes in a very large box and I would suggest having two people to unbox and move the couch into position. When you unbox the couch though don’t panic if you don’t at first see all the pieces—there is a hidden zippered compartment underneath the couch that contains the couch sides, hardware, and assembly instructions. That was the funny part—the first step in the instructions was to unzip the hidden compartment and remove everything, including the instructions. The couch requires minimal assembly — essentially you need to attach the legs and the sides of the couch. The couch has pre-drilled holes, so assembly is just a matter of lining up the legs or sides and tightening the bolts. The sides are different (there is a “left” and a “right”), so if the holes don’t line up for you, try the other side! The assembly itself was fairly easy—the hardware includes an Allen key used to turn the bolts, but in tight spaces the key can be difficult to turn by hand, so we found using an additional wrench [not provided] to be very helpful. One nice addition was a fifth leg in the middle of the couch underneath, which provides for additional stability and support.Once assembled, we found the couch to be very attractive. The legs were painted gold, which was a bit odd considering the linen fabric was grey, but the gold color actually works because the legs are often in shadow, so the couch looks sharp. The main feature to keep in mind is that the couch is very firm—this is not one of those big, puffy couches that you sink into when watching television. So that’s why we found this couch to work better in our formal room. The seat area of the couch is 73″ wide and 23″ deep. The couch quickly folds down flat for a roomy bed, with dimensions: 44″ by 73″. We suggest that you place it against a wall when turned into a bed, to avoid having guests exit from the “wrong side” and tip the couch. The back of the couch is the same color and fabric as the rest, but there is a exposed shelf used for support when turned into a bed. Our older cat located this shelf, and loves sleeping on it.So overall, Novogratz Vintage Mix Sofa Futon is nicer than we were expecting, though we were not expecting it to be so firm. The couch may not be the first choice when watching a movie, but after using it for a while, we got used to the firmness, and now quite like it. We love the way it looks in our formal living room. We also liked that the two bolsters that come with it are removable, and that the bottom cushion is all one piece that doesn’t move around on you when napping.Oh, and it’s cat approved. Thanks for reading. Looks over functionality
Pros:- Simple assembly- Aesthetically pleasing sleek design- Sturdy. Even though there are no legs that fold out the rear of the back cushion when you convert to flat the weight balance is primarily on the 4 wooden legs and central support leg, so there is no tipping or wobbling- Very long sofa that can easily seat 4 adults- Very easy to convert from flat to upright- Sturdy fabric that doesn't fold, wrinkle or tear easilyCons:- Extremely stiff cushions. Uncomfortable for sitting but better for your back when lying down- Wooden legs are angled, but it is very hard to tell how to orient them properly, since you are assembling upside down- Slight misalignment of screws to holes on side arm support make it difficult to get screw in properly- Cannot adjust reclining angle of back cushion when using as sofaOverall, I am ok with having this as a sofa in my living room as a seating/sleeping for guests. I personally do not enjoy using it as my primary seating for my own activities. But it is great for when you have guests who you do not want to have around for a long time because it's very hard to get comfortable on it. It's probably also good if you want to prevent someone from sleeping on the sofa in your house. I used to have this bad habit of watching tv and falling asleep on it. Now I use my bed a lot more. People do comment how great it looks....then they sit down on it.

Very hard, very hard to assemble, very attractive to kitties who like to scratch.
How can I put this? It was a pain to put together. You'll need two people or a way to prop things up to assemble. The sides were very difficult to line up and assemble because of the cushioning and fabric. It's hard as a rock. I may have slept on or sat on softer rocks before in the past, come to think of it. It's very stiff! If you plan to have someone sleep on it, be sure they like their sleeping surface extra stiff, like how they'll feel the next morning if they aren't used to such hardness.Like other reviewers, the kitties kind of love this couch. I noticed some claw marks down the arms and down the back, so I'll have to do something to nip that in the bud. It's not soft fabric, so I get why they like to use it for a scratching post.On the plus side, the pieces are zippered in for easy shipping. So don't freak out and think you were shorted pieces until you unzip and do a count. This sofa reminds me a lot like the one my grandma had when I as little. If I had to say, it has a mid-century/60s style about it. I plan to use this mainly for overflow of guests to sleep on. You know, the one I might not like as much ;) Just kidding! I love all of my family.

Flimsy, hard to assemble
Easy to assemble is not true at least for me. The key provided to screw in the screws was way too small and it kept slipping out of my hand, took me a long time to assemble. Let me start off with what I like from this sofa/futon. Love the fabric and the texture and the color grey is super nice, along with the sleek style, not bulky at all. What I don’t care about it VERY FRIM! Wide track arms is an over statement, thin and not sturdy at all. I took them apart twice thinking that I might have assembled them wrong, nope just not sturdy enough. I literally can grab the arms and start moving them, feels like it’s going to fall apart. The quality of the wooden legs are very cheap. They had scratches on them and one part looked as if they forgot to spray paint it all the way. When you lay out the futon and lay down, feels like it’s going to fall over because it’s not sturdy enough. I wouldn’t recommend an adult or even two try and sleep on this futon. I wouldn’t recommend the sofa/futon to anyone.
