Gluten Free Asafoetida/Asafetida/Hing powder - Low FODMAP Onion and Garlic Substitute, Tested Negative for 30 Allergens, No Fenugreek, Non GMO, 4oz (113g) - Casa de Sante

I purchased this because I require a LOW FODMAP Diet secondary to IBS-D. those of you who are in this boat know what that means--no onion or garlic. This is supposed to resemble this combination of flavors. It does a pretty good job. Adds depth to overall food that I am cooking. I do require more than the "pinch" recommended. I do like Indian cooking and have wanted to try this for several years, now that I am not able to tolerate onion and garlic, I am glad that it is in my arsenal for food flavoring. Easy to use, it is small granules like garlic granules. I have used it in several types of foods and it adds good flavor reminiscent of garlic and onions, but not full flavor. But certainly better than not having them at all. I have not used raw as in salad dressing yet. Though somewhat expensive, i will buy again.

This is very potent tasting and it really does taste like onions/garlic. I was on a very restrictive diet and could hardly handle any spices. It was almost to the point where looking at food was depressing due to no taste but then someone mentioned this, I did the research, came up with this company and product and was very happy! NO Fillers- which I had no idea that spice companies did so trying to be gluten free was being sabotaged by regular spices. Was happy to read about this product which taught me a lot. You will only need one as you cannot use very much at time because it is very potent.

Great customer service the first bottel I received had the safety seal broken on it. I emails the company and they sent me another one right away. Kinda smells like dried celery but the taste is great.

The label says to use a pinch. I used more than a pinch and had to keep adding more to get any sense of flavor. It smells herby, but does turn savory when cooked. It doesn't completely replace onion and garlic, but it's better than not having either.

Buying for someone on the low FODMAP diet, no garlic or wheat allowed. The asafoetida was recommended as a substitute for garlic and it works great. It was impossible to find it elsewhere without the wheat used as a filler.Resealable package is great, because the product is really fine grain and you only use a tiny bit at a time.Seller recommended 1:1 substitution for garlic powder and 1/8 tsp. when garlic cloves are called for. Thanks for the extra info!We'll be buying more of their specialty products and we've already recommended them to a friend who needs the same items.

I have pure asafoetida resin which is super stinky, full of flavor. This Casa de Sante stuff has nearly no aroma, and no flavor, I can't believe that this is supposed to pure. I've poured the contents of the package into a jar with some of my asafoetida resin in the hopes that it will impart some flavor into it. Packaging list asafoetida as the only ingredient. Super disappointed. By far the weakest devils dung that I've purchased.

Excellent product. The best hing powder available on Amazon, in my opinion. Very potent - all you need is a small pinch of this stuff for a large pot of soup/stew to add onion/garlic flavor. It also helps with digestion of high fiber dishes like beans, lentils and root veggies. Definitely recommend.Happy cooking!

I’m on the low fodmap diet and garlic and onions are a HUGE no no for me. I came across this product online and was very happy to find it as a substitute for those. Things can be very bland with this diet. Some reviews I read stated they had to use a lot of this specific brand, more then they would’ve with others, but I use sparingly and it works great. Anymore and it gets overpowering.
