South Shore Axess Narrow Storage Cabinet, Pure Black

I read the reviews, and took a chance. Yes, adjusting the doors was a long, puzzling, but ultimately successful process. I think the hinges are poor renditions of this type of hinge (which I have used for IKEA and other cabinets and bookshelves I have put together). The plastic handles look better than one might expect. The color and grain of the cabinets are surprisingly attractive.I shopped on line to replace a 36" tall, 48" wide, 16" deep buffet that I had used to hide stereo equipment--receiver, CD player--and bins of headphones, cords, adapters, etc, which I now was going to use in a different room. I could not find one item that fit the bill and my budget.So I ordered one two-door and one narrow one-door of these cabinets, bolted them together (so the top would stay even and flush), and viola! It worked out beautifully--exactly the same dimension to fit the space available between two bookcases. (I folded down the back board 1/2 way on the 2-door cabinet to allow ventilation for the stereo equipment.)There was a manufacturing defect on the narrow, one-door. On one of the side panels, there are supposed to be two holes for the pins from the bottom panel to set into. There was only one, and even that was in the wrong place. Because it was an easy fix to measure and drill new holes, and because I was careful and did not accidentally drill all the way through and damage the exterior finish, I elected not to take off any stars. Oddly, the one-door costs about the same as the two-door, but since that was a bargain, I'm not complaining.

The cabinet came VERY well packaged. You could see that it was dropped, twice. Two corners where caved in, but the contents was fine. A door was a tiny bit banged up, but it was on the inside, once assembled. The whole thing was sturdy, once the back was nailed in. Putting the cabinet together took me two hours, but I was watching TV on the side and I like to take my time with these sort of tasks. It looks nice and matches a desk I bought years ago. It will hold the printer and all sorts of office supplies. Perfect size and the price is great.

This cabinet is pretty good for the price. I would say it is on par with the quality of a cabinet you'd get from a store like Walmart or Target. It gets the job done, but I wouldn't count on it to last forever. The assembly was kind of annoying, especially when the cabinet doors would not align properly without a lot of extra effort. But otherwise it is a fairly good, inexpensive cabinet.

I love, love, love this cabinet! I bought this cabinet as a shoe cabinet for my closet. I wanted a cabinet with a door so my shoes wouldn't get so dusty and needed it to fit under the bottom clothes rod. This cabinet fits perfectly! It's so pretty and sturdy, I may find another use for it eventually where it can be seen. It's plenty deep enough for my husband's size 10 shoes and I can fit my size 7 shoes two deep turned sideways, so I can get 6 pairs on one shelf. I emailed, then called to order an extra shelf and the representatives were so nice. I never knew South Shore was made in Canada! I'm happy to be able to support North American companies!

I guess you get what you pay for. Not the greatest quality and the shelf is missing in my box. Also is cheaply made and if you don’t take your time to put together the barrels can break the composite wood. There are two many gaps for me. The door does not close completely. The worst part about this I already put it together. Here is the other kicker I purchased the two door version the same time and it is going to be delivered at a later date. Not so happy but I need it for now and not much of a choice. They give you cheap plastic shelf holders, Really ? Thank goodness I have brass shelf holders that i can use on the shelf that I never got. Lmao!!! One more thing there is a large gap in the back of the cabinet for dust now to accumulate, Yeaaahhhhh. Really? South Shore, you mean to tell me you couldnt afford to add an additional 3 inches of cheap plywood to cover the gap. I am just saying.

I ordered 2, 2-door storage cabinets for my kitchen nook to be used as a coffee/wine bar. Loved how these turned out! Exactly what I needed: clean, functional, affordable.Other reviews made the assembly sound like a nightmare, but that was not my experience. It took about an hour for my husband and I to put together both cabinets. Required some attention to detail and some muscle to tighten up everything. Overall: not bad.The only negative I have are the handles. They look nice, but they are plastic and we found it impossible to screw them up tight enough. So they are a little loose. We will probably buy new hardware for them. Overall I am very happy with my purchase!

I bought this because it was the height that I needed and couldn’t find anything else. It looks okay. Lots of scratches on it and part of it broke during assembly. Serves a purpose I suppose. Going to replace the handles because the ones included are plastic??.

The quality was better than we expected. The size is perfect for what we bought it for-a small liquor cabinet. It was easy to put together also.The top piece arrived damaged, but the manufacturer sent a replacement within a few days, with no questions asked.The only thing I didn’t like was the handles- they are plastic and look cheap. We replaced them with nice metal ones that we purchased at a local hardware store.
