No issues, good capacity, great speeds for plex media server.

Overall- you get what you pay for. I ran mine through "Hard Disk Sentinel" and it said that the HD has no hours or writes on it.Write speeds are pretty slow.Read speeds are not bad.I have been using solid state for awhile and just wanted a large drive for storage so it's obviously slower than that.I would not recommend this as your main storage or your gaming/steam drive- it is too slow.People said that it is very noisy but I haven't noticed a huge noise from this.Will update this as things change but this is my immediate review of the hard drive.

Very cheap way to gain lots of storage. At less than ten cents per GigaByte, this is a huge bargain. Write speeds are about what would be expected for a SATA 3 7200RPM HDD. But for archival of large files, I cannot recommend this drive enough!

This item was as advertised and the install in my video workstation was simple and flawless. I am satisfied with this purchase. It has plenty of storage for my purposes.

V Overall at bottom VI recently purchased three of these refurbished 8TB Seagate (ST8000NC0002-1XX112) hard drives. While all three were functional and showed good sequential performance, there are some significant concerns potential buyers should be aware of, primarily the incredibly high operational history.The Biggest Issue: Extreme Power-On HoursThese drives, advertised as "excellent quality," have seen extensive prior use. The lowest reported S.M.A.R.T. power-on hours was approximately 57,900 hours (around 6.6 years of 24/7 use) on two of the drives. The third drive, Drive #3, was even higher at a staggering 70,300 hours (just over 8 years of continuous operation)! For "refurbished" units, this level of prior runtime is far beyond what I'd expect and directly contradicts any claim of "excellent quality," raising serious questions about their remaining lifespan.Performance & Testing NotesAll three drives performed well for mechanical HDDs in sequential read/write tasks, delivering around 240-247 MB/s reads and 220-242 MB/s writes. This is great for large file transfers. As expected, random 4KiB performance was much lower (typically 0.8-3 MB/s), which is standard for HDDs.Important Note: I tested these drives via an external USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps) enclosure. While the interface is fast, the drives themselves were likely the bottleneck for random I/O. The enclosure also has no active airflow.Noise & Temperature VariancesThere was notable inconsistency:Noise: One of the drives (the one with 8+ years of use) emitted a loud, constant hum when idle, which thankfully disappeared under load. The other two drives did not exhibit this prominent idle hum.Temperature: The noisy, high-hour drive ran quite hot at around 49-50°C in the enclosure. Surprisingly, the other two drives with ~6.6 years of use ran very cool at 22-23°C under the same conditions.S.M.A.R.T. Data HighlightsDespite the high hours, the S.M.A.R.T. status was reported as "Good" on all drives:The Good: Critically, all three drives showed 0 Reallocated Sectors, 0 Current Pending Sectors, and 0 Uncorrectable Sectors. This is a very positive sign for current platter health.Noteworthy: The drive with the highest hours and heat also had 1 Command Timeout logged. The other two drives had zero. Other attributes like Read/Seek Error Rates had non-zero raw values (indicating past corrected errors, which is common) but were within acceptable S.M.A.R.T. thresholds.Overall: Buyer Be CautiousThese refurbished drives are a gamble. While they might offer decent performance for their capacity at a lower price, the extremely high power-on hours are a major red flag for long-term reliability. The variation in noise and temperature between units also highlights inconsistency.If you decide to purchase, immediately check the S.M.A.R.T. data (especially Power-On Hours, Reallocated Sectors, and Command Timeouts). These drives might be suitable for non-critical storage where data loss isn't catastrophic, but I would be very hesitant to use them for primary storage or irreplaceable data given their extensive prior usage.

Bought 4 of these to replace some smaller drives in an external RAID enclosure. These are fantastic. All 4 came shipped looking like new. All are quiet and perform very well. And considering they come with a 3 year warranty... I can't complain.

Nice capacity and speed, but I can hear constant grinding and knocking. Returned the first one and got a new one and did the same. Great price, but TERRIBLY NOISY in a home PC. Just Brrrrrr, brrrrr, brr, brr, brrrrrrr... constantly. I had to set the HD to shut down after just a few minutes so it would not constantly do that noise thing.

Overall, the drives are good value, but as you might see in some reviews, the drives are used data center drives that get a shiny 'certified renewed' sticker. My drive ended up not having much usage but a runtime of many thousands of hours and few power cycles, leading me to suspect that it was a hot-swap in a data center.If you want a pristine drive, these aren't it. If you are on a budget and are looking at these as a saving grace, be sure to use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to see the story behind what arrived. If you are lucky, you might end up with one that had minimal use or was just left running with minimal use. If you get a drive showing bad signs of health or were heavily used, Amazon has a return policy for a reason. Use it!Overall, this item and many like it will be a dice roll. You might get lucky, and the drive is actually like new. You might get a drive that just did nothing but was powered on for years. Or you'll get a corporation's old drive with questionable health concerns. For that reason, I cannot give this a full 5 stars. If you can't afford to roll the dice and do your homework, just buy a new drive and stop cheaping out.
