great for stirring and serving!
Over the years, I've used and abused numerous tools for stirring pasta as it boils, and for dipping it out once it's done - everything from a slotted plastic spoon, to bacon tongs, and a three-tined wooden fork. I even had this thing that looked like a flat wooden spoon with about a dozen 1-inch dowel pegs mounted on the spoon end. Nothing seemed to work all that well - and the odd dowel-pin thingie was a serious pain to clean. I finally decided there was just no great way to do that particular job.But while "retooling" following a major kitchen remodel, I tried just one more pasta implement, and imagine my shock to find that it works beautifully! Mine is technically an earlier model of this Calphalon item, but I recently bought this one for a gift, and it seems very similar, with a slightly larger ladle end, and what feels like a stronger handle, which also has a longer non-slip grip area, all design improvements, if anything. The "teeth" on this server work nicely to separate strands of pasta in the cooking water, and it's wonderfully easy to get a serving of pasta out - you just dip the ladle into the kettle and lift up ... a reasonable amount of pasta, which actually stays put while you move it to a dish. And mine comes clean every time in the top rack of the dishwasher. What more could I ask? Unless they have the patience to enjoy fiddling with shifting just a few slithery noodles at a time, I would encourage any pasta lover to try this tool.As an afterthought, I think we need a catchy, more descriptive name for this utensil. "Spladle" or "spa-ladle" (a contracted form of "spaghetti ladle") is the best I've come up with. Any other suggestions?

Perfect portion
Each grab is a perfect portion (unless you're hungry). Well made, easy to clean. 1 solid piece. Doesn't bend when picking up larger amounts. I expect it to last for years since it replaced a 5 year old cheap 99 cent spaghetti fork that I killed by scooping a huge portion. I usually use a stainless fork however when reheating in a nonstick pan I needed nonstick friendly.

Sturdy, good looking tool does the job
We eat a lot of pasta and this tool is ideal for serving it. It grips the pasta well and can handle a heavy amount without bending. The entire tool is sturdy and seems very well made. It looks nice hanging by the stove. I recommend it.

Not quite what I was expecting, but for what it is it is strong and no issues. I will suggest and recommend this product .

Lasts for about a year.
I've had this spaghetti spoon for about 20 months (almost exactly the same as the only other negative reviewer) and this held up for a little while and now is just ugly and annoying. The grey insert in the handle of the spoon ended up popping out after a little while and now when I'm scooping out pasta (if it's heavy on the spoon) the insert will pop out and often times when I'm washing it by hand, water will get inside the groove. The head of the spoon also has developed bubbling on it, which looks really ugly. I always put my spoon on a spoon rest, so it cannot be from being on a stove top or anything, but must be from the heat from contact with the actual pot or pasta. The spoon isn't bad at first, but it's falling apart after only a year and a half and I'm already looking for a new one.

Sturdy
Does not bend when hot. Better than most I have used. Color is fine. What else can I say, it works.

Great Pasta Fork
This is a very large and strong pasta fork. My last one was so flimsy that a couple of teeth broke, this one is so strong that the teeth should not break with regular use. The only negative for some, might be it's size, it is fairly large, so for some, it may be a tight squeeze into narrow kitchen drawers. I love this utensil and highly recommend it.
