Great Product
Used this to raise my 73' 85hp Mercury 3". I had to do some minor plate fabricating in order to bolt an old bolt pattern outboard to this modern bolt pattern Jack Plate but the results were well worth the effort.I gained about 3-4 mph at the same rpm which was just a bonus, my original goal was to increase my mileage so I could reach more distance areas of my section of river without carrying a 3rd fuel tank. I just took the boat out last week (72' Fabuglas 16 foot) for nothing but range testing and was shocked to more then double my range to 34 miles on a 6gal tank running at 30mph, best I ever got before was13-14 miles.I could not be happier with the results of installing this Jack Plate. Aside from the fabrication to mate my ancient motor to the modern plate the installation was easy and straight forward.

Great product and value
Doing a great job of holding this 25 inch shaft 115 hp motor. Previously there was a 20 inch shaft on it. Definitely doing a great job elevating the 5 inch difference.

DO NOT USE WITH A KICK PLATE
First off, this product works fine for lifting a motor vertically. Do not use this if you think you might hit something with your motor. In fact don’t use this for anything heavier than a 50hp 2 stroke.I have a 3” kick plate mounted on this jack plate. The kick plate is designed to be mounted on jack plates. Running the river yesterday I hit a submerged log at ~10mph and my kick plate did as it was supposed to and kicked the motor up to not damage the trim or lower unit. This jack plate did not hold up. Despite being the same width aluminum as the kick plate, the jackplate completely failed as you can see in the pictures. My motor could very easily have fallen off into the river. Whatever grade aluminum they use for these plates is not good enough. Aluminum this thick should not fail like that. Spend the money and get a plate that won’t put you in danger. Also the edges on the plate are razor sharp as stated in other reviews. If you don’t wear gloves during assembly, you will slice your hands open
