Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/2 HP & WM Harvey 043010 Professional Grade Plumber's Putty, 14 oz, Off- White

I got it because of the 4.5 stars reviews from more than 2,000 people. I also paid for the amazon professional installation. I had it for about a week and suddenly one day, it fell down. It disengaged from the sink and water spilled down to the bottom of the sink where we store our toaster and more. The installer more of a paid amazon handyman and his wife said that the seal burst or got caught. The same handyman and his wife said that the disposal was garbage. Handyman couple replaced the seal and put extra putty, but in a few days, it started to leak again. The same handyman couple who told me to hire an electrician, took photos and lie telling amazon that the electrician caused the damage. Now amazon manager Frank who does not want to even hear me out, sent me a couple of so sorry emails telling me that because the electrician manipulated the installation, they will not honor the guarantee and I am to fix my own leak and fix any damage to the cabinets. If I could give them less than a star, I would!

This garbage disposal requires that you use the sink drain trim piece attached to the disposal. It's made into the disposal assembly and cannot be removed. The trim is super shiny chrome with "WASTE KING" written all over it. It cannot be replaced with any trim that matches your sink and looks horrendously tacky. Most sinks are not chrome finish so it will not match and will only draw attention to the ugly trim piece since it is so shiny and has the brand stamped all over it. Returning before even installing.

Compact and modern very easy to install. Everything needed was in the package, I was able to use my existing outlet flange as they appear to be a standard. The sink adapter that came with the unit is all you need, i've seen a number of reviews that suggest that you buy the Adapter to unit which would make the dusposal a lot lower taking up more space. The trick is to pop off the old adapter sometimes it has a set up that you need to remove first. That unit had a plug in the dishwasher connection that I had forgotten to take out which caused my dishwasher to stop working, after knocking the plug out the unit worked perfectly. I have not had the chance yet to test the disposal in real life, it is a lot quieter than the old one which started leaking when the internal motor seal went out. I chose this unit because it was a higher horsepower than our old 1/3 hp unit and it had good reviews in additionally the price was hard to beat. It took me 20 minutes to get those unit out and the new unit in, The only tool I needed was a screwdriver. I did not bother using plumbers putty on the sink, however I did use a screwdriver to just wipe off the old party then with a paper towel to clean it up before putting the new rubber gasket in the new sink insert in.After 3 1/2 years still runs great

This is a great a disposal based on the following: 1. Easy Install 2. very quiet compared to competitors 3. Made to replace existing competitor disposals.The ugly part: My first Waste King was purchased in 2015 which lasted on a little over a year. Manufacturer policy is no replacement within the warranty period unless the plumber they call out says I need replacement. In other words, if the disposal becomes stuck and the plumber gets it unstuck. You pay the plumber and your stuck with a corroded garbage disposal that will likely lock-up again within a week or two. I lucked out, I live so far away from the plumber that he convinced the manufacturer to send me a disposal and let me do the install. But the replacement disposal is No.2 disposal. Bottom line, if you can't get it unstuck and working again just buy another in my opinion. Plumbers service call is almost as much.Here we are today, May of 2018 and I just installed my third Waste King garbage disposal. This one will last me just over a year like the others. So three disposals in 4 years. That doesn't sound like such a great bargain to me but it really is much quieter than the competing disposals. Of note, all three disposals I purchased do not have stainless steel internals. No moving parts in my disposal are corrosion resistant but if you have a water softener you may get a little extra life out of the waste king. Next time I may buy the model with stainless steel parts unless the competitors are priced the same and have stainless, then I will be jumping ship and getting a different brand.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a preliminary review. I gave the installation one star. It should actually get 5 stars, but the instructions that came with it are very bad. Not badly written, just poorly described. Had the company put more time into describing exactly how the cushion mount gasket goes on it would have saved me hours of my time. I was on the verge of boxing it back up and ordering a different one and sending this one back to Amazon but I figured I'd give it one last go after eating another Amazon review. That person gave a little bit of information to have me look a little more into it and discovered that it's very easy to put the cushion mount gasket on too far making it impossible to mount the garbage disposal. I've uploaded a video showing how to install a cushion Mount gasket properly. once that's done and it really takes a couple minutes to install a garbage disposal. Extremely easy. But if you follow the included instructions it's very easy to make it to where you can't install it at all. You'll see lots of reviews on here where people ended up returning it probably for the same reason that I almost did.Maybe Waste King will read some reviews and figure out a better way to update their instructions

It’s probably fine in the USA - it was made for American kitchens. The voltage is wrong for GB. It probably would have exploded if we’d tried to install it! We had to send it back.

Despues de mudarme a un departamento el olor de basura comenso a ser un problema en la casa al punto de causar problemas con mi esposa, pueden creer, queria que sacar la basura todos los dias! jajaja. En cualquier caso decidi probar el triturador, comparando con los precios de tiendas que me parecian absurdos este lo pude conseguir a una fracción de lo que otros comerciales lo tenian. La instalación fue cosa de 10 minutos, afortunadamente pude poner todo usando las mangeras e instalación que ya estaba, sin embargo quizas en casas mas viejas sea necesario un plomero para dejar las cosa 'bien'Ahora bien, que tal funciona? perfecto, yo echo todo al triturador, restos de comida? cafe, servilletas y demas. Lo único que no hay que echar o procurar no son semillas y alimentos fibrosos o que puedan atorar el triturador como lo es el apio, platanos, semillas grandes, pasta y obviamente grasa.Pros, salvo mi relacionCons, Es bastante ruidoso comparado con otros

This is absolutely GREAT product. We just love this one.For the money we paid, we were expecting this to make noise of an old school bus, but guess what? this is more quiet than me (after marriage :P ). This makes no noise at all just runs smoothhhhhhhh...Installation could suck your brain if you don't spend a good amount of time reading the instructions. It took me 2hrs to install. I did read some reviews that said " less than 10 mins for installation" I guess those guys were just very smart or they lied. But if you spend good amount of time on reading instructions then you will be on a smarter side unlike me...I would say this is worth every PENNY..Overall we are very SATISFIED with this product. My WIFE is loving me for installing this little darling under our sink..TIP - When removing the strainer and other parts, from the box, either take pics or remember how the washer rings were placed on the disposer as they could easily trick and confuse when you are ready to install.

We bought this waste disposal unit to replace a similar Waste King unit we'd had for about 9 years. It came with a European plug but with a uk adapter it fitted perfectly! Easy to install.
