The mount easily slides onto and off the vent!! I was Leary of buying this because I have had other vent mounted phone holders that grabbed onto the air vent and were difficult to remove, but a friend said to look for one like this that easily my units to the vent. It's also very small and easily stows away in my backpack ("briefcase).My only complaint is the large high power magnet with adhesive back that ships with the mount that you are supposed to stick to the backside of your phone. I have a wallet case that has a thin magnet plate in the cover that goes over the back of my phone and allows my phone to magnetically stay in place & easily be removed from the wallet portion that wraps around my phone and holds my credit cards & ID. So I use the less powerful magnet that came with my phone case. It holds good enough to get the job done!!

This is a great little gadget. Hangs onto the ventilation vanes inside the auto cabin very firmly yet does no damage. The magnetic base grabs firmly onto the mounting plate, as well. All said a very sturdy way of setting up a iPhone (in our case 6S Plus if you are wondering about size and weight) for the purposes of monitoring navigation apps. I think that it would hold a larger device but I don't want to hang that much weight from the ventilator. I would love to permanently mount the adhesive version but I just don't have the confidence that I could remove the adhesive later without damaging the dashboard.

Initial review: Super happy with this. Attaches securely to the vent in my 2009 Prius, and magnet attaches well to to mount. Very convenient!Addendum 1/4/18: unfortunately this product has a significant flaw: when the heat is on in my car (and I am in Boston, where we have winter) the vent's hot air blowing on the back of the phone causes the glue that holds the metal piece to fail. When I had first bought this I installed the metal piece on the outside of my phone case, and the heat caused it to fall off altogether, so then I put it on the phone itself, inside the case (I have a very thin case). I thought I'd solved the problem, till I noticed that the metal disc (still under the case) had slid up to where it currently partially blocks the camera flash, again due to the glue becoming heated, and it took intensive use of my hair dryer to get it off my phone! So this is great when the car heat is not on, but it has a real problem if you want to drive in a warm car.

Company sent a new mount with increased tension on the swivel. Makes all the difference in the world. Great mount and amazing customer service.Only ok. Needs a way to lock swivel otherwise it just flops. I use it for rental cars when I travel. Wanted to love it but it is only mediocre.UPDATE: The holder may not be great for me, but I have to say the customer service is truly remarkable. Shortly after posting this review a representative contacted me for more info so they can improve the product and make things right. THAT is how customer service should be. I'm not giving up on this company. 👍🏼

After 1 year of use. I stuck the self-adhesive metal plates to the outside of my phone case, and they came off after about six months, which wasn't that big of a deal because I super glued them back on. The magnet-plate combo has incredible hold. I'm able to freely rotate the magnet on the clip any direction. The magnet does interfere with compass apps on my phone.

I like the product. Drawback? The magnet is not strong enough to hold a large smart o[phone in the position selected. The tendency is for the phone to slowly pivot downward until it rest against a supporting fixed item. In my case the dash. It does not really affect the view unless the supporting item is set far back. The phone is still viewable for me. Just look at your vents first to see if this work for you in the phone were to pivot downward on you. Not sure how it works with a smaller lighter smartphone

This car mount works great. I have always used a suction mount, I was never happy with it but that was what there was. This clamps to my air vent, it no longer blocks my window but it is where I can easily see it for my GPS navigation. I recommend it highly.

best phone clip I've used so far. Great for Uber/Lyft, especially in FL where the phone over heats if in the sun light. The phone did overheat when a passenger cranked the heat in the car though. . . lol lost GPS for a while, had to hold the phone out the window to cool it off. Remember to close the vent or move it if you have the heat on. Used it on a Nissan Altima and an Infinity.
