WON'T PRINT...NOT EVEN A TEST PAGE...
If this machine worked, it would be a great machine. But after a week, we couldn't even get a test page to print out. Spent three days with Lexmark support and they couldn't figure it out. If I set it up using an HP driver, it works but only straight printing. Without the Lexmark driver, the machine will not duplex or scan. And the ink is less than 40% and the only stuff printed off was the error after error pages that came off while troubleshooting. So this come down to a driver. I have tried every drive I could find for this machine off Lexmark and NONE of them work. So, back it goes.

Problems After One Year - Will Be Discontinued in 2020
I purchased the MX417DE on May 3, 2018. It worked great. I work from home as an Adjunct Professor. I am also a doctoral student. I print a lot. My in-box toner lasted for approximately 8 months. I purchased another toner in January, 2019. Last week (the week of July 8th), my printer began to print faded pages as if the toner was low. However, the diagnostics indicated that I had 80% toner remaining. I contacted Lexmark. They indicated it was a Toner problem. So, I purchased a new toner directly from Lexmark for $240.00. The toner was not the problem. So, they indicated it was the Transfer Roller. I purchased that for $25+. That was not the problem. Since my Lexmark warranty was expired, I contacted Square Trade (An Allstate Company) who held my extended warranty. They determined it was a hardware problem (after one year of having the printer). They offered me a cash-out or a replacement printer. I chose the cash out (5 to 7 business days). I contacted Lexmark to order a replacement. I was informed that if I contacted presales, I could get 30% off a new printer to help mitigate some of the cost because the cost of the printer had gone up since I purchased it. When I contacted presales, they informed me that the MX models would be discontinued next year and therefore, I could only purchase them directly from a dealer (without the 30% discount). That irritated me. They offered me a different model which was double the price of the previous printer. Plus, it was not compatible with the toner (80% full) that I already have, which means that I will lose all of that toner. They are going to refund my new toner purchase plus the transfer roller purchase. However, I will have to eat the 80% remaining toner that I will not be able to use unless I go to a dealer to have them repair the printer, possibly costing more than the value of the printer, given that the warranty is gone and the model will be discontinued next year. With the exception of one customer service person, all seven of the other Lexmark staff in orders, presales, parts, and tech support were either incompetent or rude. Dana at Lexmark was great. Allison was okay as well. Of course, she only transferred me back to Dana. Everyone else needs additional training or a new job. This was the worst week in customer service incompetence I have ever experienced. And I have experienced a lot of bad customer service. Believe me! Plus, I will be upside down $300.00 even after the refunds and discounts. Go figure! Just know that if you are thinking about purchasing any Lexmark MX models, they will soon be discontinued. Also, many of the Lexmark customer service people are either incompetent or rude. I would take a rude competent person if I had to choose. But incompetence is not something that I can tolerate (Heavy sigh)! If the MX models are experiencing hardware problems after one year, then perhaps it is better that they be discontinued. So, the replacement model that I ordered, which has not yet arrived is MB2546ADWE. Just FYI! I hope this helps, despite the rant.

Great product for price.
Works very well. Easy to setup and install. I setup this unit for copy, network print, fax, email and scan documents to our server. I have the Lexmark 511de unit as well, and was able to transfer my email/fax list between the printers. I bought on Amazon, paid $209 on 3/27/18.

Move over HP...
I got tired of my HP printers breaking down constantly. Of course all of the HP replacements never used the same ink cartridges, so I would have to throw them out. The Lexmark MX417de All-In-One appears to be the remedy to all my HP frustrations. It is built like a tank and it is FAST! I highly recommend it.

vertical lines appeared
After 1 year of use vertical white lines are appearing on all print jobs, even with new ink. I wasn't expecting to have to replace my printer after only 1 year. I tried contacting technical support, but i'd only get a generic email reply. what a bummer.
