Can you remove the insoles?

Sure, but there is like some green foam that peels off the insole, some on the insole and the shoe. The quality is really poor. Even at that the fabric loses shape. There's better quality at Marshall's. I just bought a pair of shoes for 20 bucks and they are awesome.

Does anyone know if these are good for traveling?

I would think they would be perfect for traveling. Light weight,comfortable. Grab more than one color and your ready for any adventure.

I wear a 6.5 in shoes. Would a size 6 or 7 work better?

Personally, I wear an 8.5 and bought a 9. They fit so well and not tight, I'd say 7.
