kettlebell is great, DVD is not complete
I have a 15-pound red kettlebell from GoFit. At the time I am writing this review, you don't seem to be able to select that combination of options on Amazon, but that may change in the future as things come into and/or go out of stock. And much of what I say will apply to any of the GoFit kettlebells that are currently being offered. At any rate, I am very happy with this kettlebell. It is comfortable to hold and I like the vinyl coating (not on the handle, just on the colored part as seen in the product images). I have had my kettlebell for at least 5 or 6 years and have used it periodically and the coating does not seem to degrade. It basically still looks the same as the day I got it. I have not had any problems with this kettlebell slipping in my hands, either.15 pounds is a little bit of a challenge for me and I can't use this kettlebell for every kettlebell exercise that I do. I also have a smaller one for some exercises, and switch out as needed. If you are planning to get into kettlebell training at a serious level, you will probably want to have a few kettlebells of different weights. I find that a kettlebell workout works the legs more than you might expect (you don't notice it at the time but you feel it the next day). For reference, if it helps in terms of selecting a kettlebell weight for you, I'm a small-framed woman in my mid-30s and I'd consider myself intermediate/advanced when it comes to most home exercise programs. The DVD that came with this was not really a complete workout. However, I thought the instructor (Sarah Lurie) was good and it motivated me to buy a couple of her full-length workout DVDs (many are available here on Amazon).

Helped me learn the basics
I purchased the 15lbs one to introduce myself to kettlebells. The handle has a couple somewhat rough spots on it (this probably varies), but it hasn't bothered me at all when working out. The handle isn't quite wide enough to fit both my hands. Other than that the kettlebell is great. In hindsight I should have started with the 20 or 25 lbs, which appear to have wider handles. This one is perfect for Turkish getups. The DVD is a good way learn the basics and a good workout, but I'm ready to move onto something more advanced. I prefer the Rogue Fitness kettle bells they have my gym, but there is nothing wring with these.

Not as represented
The gofit kettlebell is as described with the exception that the weight is printed in metric unlike the picture shown. It's kind of annoying considering the rest of our weights are all printed in standard form.

Great addition to a home gym
Sure, kettlebells are kind of a fitness fad right now in the US, but don't let that stop you. In addition to being popular, they are also awesome. A historic Russian analogue to the dumbbell, a kettlebell is basically an iron cannonball with a handle on top. Kettlebell exercises typically concentrate on engaging many muscle groups at a time by swinging or lifting the kettlebell.Pavel Tsatsouline, one of the trainers most responsible for popularizing the kettlebell in the States, promises that a good kettlebell workout will work out your whole body, burn fat, and build flexibility, and so far, I kind of believe him. I feel like I am getting a great all around workout, building muscle tone, and building core strength. Even better, it is much easier to combine light strength with cardio using the kettlebell. I can get my heart rate up to 85% and get a great workout, and I love it.This particular kettlebell is 35 pounds (or just a smidgen short of one "pood", the Czarist russian unit of measurement that is often used for these things). That's the recommended starting weight for a man without much recent lifting experience, and as an out-of-shape man, I can assure you that it's a good starting weight. It's challenging, but not impossible, as I start with basic exericises like swings and squats, and work my way up. I think the weight will last me for a while, as I can increase the number of reps and the difficulty of the exercise, but if I stick with it, I will eventually need a second KB, a bigger KB, or both.Unlike most of the alternatives, the GoFit bells come with a vinyl coating, and have a flat section on the side of the ball where they put the weight and logo. I like the vinyl, which I think *might* protect my floor somewhat if I drop it, and which should protect the ball itself from minor dings and nicks. On the other hand, some reviewers don't like it, arguing that if the ball bounces, you're in more trouble than if it doesn't. I don't have a problem with the flat area, but some people on the net complain about it.The GoFit balls also come with a basic video that shows the form for several exercises. It's not a workout video, but just basic instruction. Kettlebells can hurt your back if done incorrectly, so the best thing to do is to get a session with a local kettlebell trainer. (This will also let you try out kettlebells before you buy, so I highly recommend it). If you don't want to spend an hour with a trainer, I recommend that you spend some careful time considering proper form, using resources like Enter The Kettlebell! Strength Secret of The Soviet Supermen or From Russia With Tough Love .Update 03/12/09: I love the GoFit kettlebell, but cost-conscious buyers may want to consider alternatives like the J Fit 35-Pound Cast Iron Kettlebell . It doesn't have the vinyl coating or the powder-treated handle, but (1) it has a less expensive base price and (2) inexplicably, the J Fit kettlebell is eligible for supersaver or prime shipping and the GoFit is not.

purchase Kettlebells in person when possible
Love my kettlebells. I think they've helped me increase my spinal bone density. I have 3 different weights I've ordered from Amazon. The 40 lb weight had the smoothest handle of any I've encountered. This, the 45 lb kettlebell has the roughest handle of all of my kettlebells. If you live in an area where you can easily go and pick one out..I'd recommend that because that way you can see if they have a smooth handle...otherwise you get what you get...I supposed I could send this back but it's so heavy that shipping would be too costly.

Good Quality
I bought this for my daughter, she is thrilled to bits with it. The Kettle Bell is well made & looks far more expensive than it actually cost. There are no sharp edges or cheap casting artefacts, the paint looks attractive & durable, Obviously being a weight it would be impossible to break it, but having said that, this will last last for many years to come.Recommended product!

Kettlebell with Iron Core DVD
]I got this product because i don't have space for an exercise machine and a kettlebell seemed to provide a full body workout. To this end the Kettle bell is really good. The exercises are really good fun and provides a full body workout that you can really feel working. However if like me you were hoping for a workout dvd to come with this it doesn't, the dvd which accompanies the product is really only a glorified instructional dvd telling you how to do movements safely. I found myself looking at videos online to find out circuit training to do with the kettlebell. In my advice if you are wanting to buy a kettlebell is to get one without a dvd and then by a workout manual or dvd later.
