simplehuman Extra Large Slim Canister, Fingerprint-Proof Stainless Steel

I spent a couple of hours looking at all of the different metal canisters Amazon had to offer and the first one I purchased was a Brabantia 371820 Window Canister, 1.7-Liter, Matte Steel Fingerprint Proof with Black Lid which I ended up returning for various reasons, one of which was the thin, cheap feel of the metal and the fact that it completely failed the water test... What I really wanted was this simplehuman canister but felt it was a bit more than I was willing to spend. However, I gave in after receiving the Brabantia canister and let me tell you, I am in LOVE. I am now obsessed with getting the rest of the slim style canister line, they are just about as perfect as they get AND they come with a 5 Year Warranty if you register it on their website!I must've opened and closed it at least 10 times upon first taking it out of the box, it makes the greatest little hi-tech, space-age, expensive *whoosh-y* sound like those air-lock doors you see in futuristic sci-fi movies and everything about it, from the sound to the smoothness of the truly smudge-proof metal, to the tight feel of the lock, screams ULTRA high quality in every way! I also own the simplehuman Tension Arm Paper Towel Holder, Stainless Steel and the simplehuman Sink Caddy, Stainless Steel so even before I received this item, I already knew it would be beautiful and extremely well-made, and it definitely does not disappoint!I absolutely cannot say enough great things about simplehuman products, most items in my kitchen are by simplehuman and Oxo, but I feel simplehuman definitely retains an edge over Oxo in overall quality (however, all this fine craftsmanship and quality is also reflected in their prices unfortunately, lol)PROS:Beautiful designTop quality manufacturing & materials100% air-tightPlastic liner which slides out easily and is dishwasher-safe (the only canister I have found on Amazon with this feature!)Easy push-button openCONS:Location of the label is on top which is harder to see than if it was on the side

I bought the medium and large ones recently as I'm very impressed with the sleek slim design and the closing/opening mechanism. The small and medium ones are only available in UK. So decided to buy the extra large one and paid a hefty sum to be delivered to UK via priority international courier. Received it today and found it quite difficult to get the lid shut as I need to use a lot of force to do so. Unfortunately, I won't be able to return it for a replacement as I will be moving to the Far East soon and wouldn't want to incur additional charges for it. However, absolutely impressed with DHL for such speedy delivery!!!

This is NOT a slim canister opens akwardly lip opens at handle side and is very heavy- returned immediately- it is heavy with no filling!

I ordered 5 canisters (3 large, 1 medium, and 1 small) One of the Large canisters had a large dent in the lid. Amazon was great about taking it back and sending a replacement but I received the replacement today and opened it up and there is a dent in the lid of it as well. Now I am going to have to go to the pain of repackaging and taking it to a UPS store and wait even longer for a replacement. Very disappointed. The canisters that were not dented are great.

I purchased this to hold dog food for a small dog. I don't keep my bags of dog food in the house but like to keep about a week's worth in an airtight container for daily use. Had been using a plastic container that was so unattractive on my counter. These look really nice. I really like the flip of a button feature and that the plastic casing comes out for cleaning. I can also take it out to refill without taking the whole canister outside. The only downfall, which is a small one for me, is it doesn't always snap closed - at times I have to push it a few times.I also bought the medium canister to put food in for a larger dog -- my only regret is I didn't purchase the larger one. This one only holds about 3 days worth. Simplehuman products are a little pricey, but they rarely disappoint me.

I got this because i buy 5lb bags of roasted coffee beans and needed a container that was sturdy, let the beans gas escape and retain the bean's flavor/freshness for as long as possible. Another consideration was being able to access its contents while being a zombie like morning fog, this canister delivered on those requirements flawlessly. Its sturdy metal frame is both attractive and functional, with the lid easily opened with a press of the button at the top of the handle, and when you push the lid down it a audible click confirms its firmly sealed, while the inside plastic container is easily removed should you need to wash it.What pushed this to a 5 star rating for me was the following. I had bought two of these and my Sister gave me two more as a birthday gift suggesting I can store other staples in it as well. I'm a coffee affectionado and borderline snob, I love my coffee, grinder, and french press. I had gotten a little busy and forgotten that I had a jamaican blue mountain blend stored in one of my bins thinking I had drank it all already and that bin sat at the back of the counter for somewhere near to a year when I stumbled across it. When I popped the lid the aroma was still enticing and I thought there was no way those beans could still be worth using, which was a real pity at there being nearly 2lbs in there still and at the price of $50 a lb I felt a real stab of self-hate. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I brewed a cups worth just to see what it would taste like, and I was shocked at how robust and good the flavor was still. I'm sure it lost some measure of its taste, thats simply inevitable, but given how much of its taste it did retain, made me regard this canister with with great affection and respect.
