This thing is certified BEEF.
I've had cheap ponchos that use sil nylon for waterproofing. I live in the PNW. The rain here is built different. In the PNW you need 100% waterproof (which is hard to find despite manufacturer claims)this poncho delivers that with the pvc lining (pictured) it rides to about 2" above my wrists with my arms extended out infront of me. I'm 5'10 220 and this fits me great, plenty big. Covers my HONCHO poncho woobie just fine. Its a bit heavy probably around 1.5lbs, but it is strong and very very waterproof.Torrential downpour quality.Overall exactly what I was looking for 10/10 stars

Heaviest fit poncho you can buy nowadays, aka almost like the old type ponchos
This ponchos quality is great. I have Fox, Rothco and FireForce (great quality light) ponchos. If Iβm thru hiking and trying to go Ultra Light I go w my high quality FireForce light weight poncho. It could be used as a tarp or poncho easily in the California portion of the trail. However, if Iβm at our cabin up in Washington State which is a virtual rain force in winter I pull out this Mil-Tec beast poncho! For heavy constant rain, this beast does the trick. Unlike modern ponchos the inside seems to be rubberized. It is heavy, but, man the thing can shed water all day. Using it as a tarp, it is equal to any heavy duty tarp you can buy at Home Depot. It is true ripstop material. Also the color is a true dark pattern German Flecktarn perfect for Pacific NortWest, British Columbia, Sierra Nevada deep woods!Being an old Army Vet from the 80βs, this poncho about as close as you can get to the old heavy duty Army ponchos we were issued. Thankfully not quite as heavy in weight, but the material and water proofing just as strong. Also the snaps on the poncho can be used with a second one to make a huge 2 man pup tent. Or a 1 man 2 woman pup tent (ha ha, wishful). There are only a couple of negatives: 1) itβs strength of being the most heavy duty poncho on the market also makes it is heavy at 28oz 2) it is only 80β long. I am 5β9β (69β) so I just fit with a bit of overhang to hide out from the rain. But if I were over 6β2β+ might get a little tight for rain coverage. But, though about 5-10β shorter than other ponchos, on the plus size it sure wonβt leak and seemingly could hold up to very heavy winds!!!!! Using it asymmetrically solves the coverage length issue.

seems like a quality product
Have not used it yet, seems like a quality product, I'm glad to have it for rain.OK, I used it during a 2" storm while hunting and learned some valuable details:1. There is one sewn on string thingy that you're supposed to tie around your wait to keep the poncho from blowing in the wind. It is not seam sealed and water soaks through it. For better results seam seal it with aqua seal.2. All the strings that come with it are made of cotton and soak up water like a sponge. Replace them all with synthetic cord and performance will be increased. You can use dental floss to tie on some cord onto the cotton string that runs through the hood and use the existing cotton to pull the synthetic cord through the hood. Also, there are some low star reviews by people here who do not understand that if it rains you will get wet no matter what type of gear you have. This poncho is pretty sweet as is and even better once you upgrade the details listed above. It would be a five star product after the upgrades. My hunting partner bought a 21.99 poncho, it was smaller and less durable. The camo pattern seamed shinier too which doesn't seem like what you want if your hunting. The grommets on this one are pretty nice but remove the strings, they just soak up water. Tie on strings only when using it as a blind or tarp.

Meets All My Expectations: Update Beware
I got this poncho a couple of months ago because I didn't want to use my Army issued ACU Poncho for my outdoor adventures. I did some searching and I found this poncho on Amazon. I have nothing but good things to say about this poncho so far. My poncho was shipped from Ireland so it took some time to get here, but when it arrived it was just like the product description said. Everything was well stitched, and came in a very convenient stuff sack. I'm using this with my space blanket as impromptu shelter when hiking or camping. I haven't had it any any severe storms yet, although it did well with a water test I did with it. I've used this poncho several times now and so far it has been easy to set, and break down, with no signs of wear. If your looking for a well made affordable, German product then I recommend this poncho.UPDATE: BEWAREI liked the first Mil-Tec Poncho so much that I bought a second one to use in my car and to create a tent when camping. Okay don't buy this poncho. The first poncho I bought was fantastic, I stand by it. This second poncho is terrible. Mil-Tec got cheap and removed the rubber lining that made the thing water proof to begin with, also they changed out some of the components for cheaper substitutions, namely the cords. I would love to return this poncho but it took so long to get to my home that the window to return it for a refund has passed.

Good Quality. Bad Dangerous Material.
Poncho looks and works great. Originally wrote a great review on first purchase, but fair warning PVC is found in a lot of house hold items, clothing etc. Upon further investigation Polyvinyl Chloride is known to produce chemicals released throughout itβs production and lifecycle. These chemicals cause reproductive harm especially to men and possibly cancer, they can be absorbed into the body by breathing the fumes and skin via touch. This poncho is specifically PVC coated, there are other PolyUrethane ponchos while not as heavy or high quality they are a healthier alternative. I personally like these ponchos, but Iβm going to be on the safe side and be mindful of how I store these things/use them.

Quite thick & heavy
Was looking for something more lightweight but it will make a good winter poncho and double up as a tarp or temporary shelter so it's multi-functional uses make it good value for money. Probably not much good for hunting as it's quite shiny and noisy, but as mentioned, will get plenty of other uses out of it no doubt.

Great value for money.
A great poncho, well made and waterproof. The coating on the underside does fully waterproof the product however at the cost of a bit more weight than others available, BUT worth it in my opinion. Also it comes wirh a neat little stuff sack. A great bit of "old school" gear.
