InCharacter Costumes Women's Mermaid Costume

I am always on the lookout for Halloween costume ideas. This year I was convinced I knew what I was going to dress as. In my search for a costume that not everyone would have and the people I see every day wouldn't pick as a costume for me, I stumbled upon this mermaid costume and fell in love instantly! Plus it was unique and had great reviews. I promptly ordered the costume and could hardly stand the short wait to get it. I tried it on the day I got it and fell in love with how it fit and how I felt in it (You will never catch me in a dress by choice)! I could not wait until I got to wear it!I am 5'3", with a very athletic build. Typically wear a medium shirt and juniors 9 short or 11 short pants. The medium I ordered fit quite well! I did shorten the skirt about two inches even though I had short heals on. I likely could have left the skirt its original length, but being at a crowed costume party I didn't want to risk others or myself stepping on it. I will comment, as a few others have as well, on the straps and seashells top. The straps are attached behind the seashells. With this location there is nothing to hold the shells up. I did move the straps to near the middle of the seashells so at least the top appeared to belong on me. This modification was quite easy and only took me about half an hour once I figured out where I wanted the straps located. The impressively high quality assisted in making this modification easy. I would recommend a strapless bra to anyone wanting to wear this amazing mermaid costume. People who are not so well endowed could consider a pushup style bra. One caution I will add to the review that has not yet been addressed is that the pink top and green sequined tail are made of a good quality spandex/stretchy material making it VERY form fitting and not very forgiving. This stretchy material is not only on the front of the costume but also the back. A lot of mermaid costumes I found end at the side. The back is just blue or black material. As if the creator expects the wearer to stand against a wall or sit in a chair all night. I didn't wear the head piece. I thought it was too big. Instead I added blue, gold and pink hair tinsel to my hair.The costume was soo comfortable and I, as well as other party attendants, liked it soo well I ended up going to three separate costume parties as a mermaid this year. I got LOADS of compliments! Best mermaid costume they have ever seen! Even the local theatre department asked me where I got it! This is by far my FAVORITE costume EVER! I would recommend this gorgeous mermaid costume to anyone looking for a rather high quality, colorful, comfortable costume!

I just purchased this costume and it did arrive on time in a nice dress bag. I am about 5'9'' and in the neighborhood of 155 lbs. I ordered the large size because i read reviews of shorter people than i who ordered a medium saying it fit just right and I am tall and have an athletic build. So I get my costume and try it on and it fits really nice. The material is great and doesn't itch or scratch or look cheap. I have a bit of room in the back where the zipper is . It's not too loose but the elastic band sometimes flips the wrong way so I will have to keep an eye on that. The shells for the bust are pretty huge as well. I am going to have to come up with some sort of creative solution to make it not look so big or maybe make me look like i am more endowed in that area than i actually am. This makes me think i should have gone with the medium after all. But other than those 2 issues the costume is great and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be a sexy mermaid for a great price.The head piece is also the cutest headband i have ever seen on. I'm sure i will be purchasing more costumes in the future from InCharacter,

After reading all the reviews on this costume and shopping around for the 'best deal' I would say this costume is very nice for the price paid. I would not spend the in season price of $120+.. Like others have pointed out - the straps do need to be adjusted, however that is an easy fix. In terms of over all fit, I thuoght i was going to have to have the whole costume taken in. It fits perfectly, so again, as other have mentioned this costume runs a little small. In my case it worked out for the better. When it comes to length the costume is a little long which I anticipated as i am only 5'2 (160cm). Nothing a pair of heels cant fix. Also in my brief viewing of the costume the organza 'fin' will need some bustling. Will have to see if a steamer can maybe bring it back to life. Over all, based on others reviews and my expectations from that, I am impressed and am sure this costume will steal the show. (I ordered a size small and my measurments are, bust:34 waist:25 height:5'2 lbs:105 this costume fits like a glove, slim fitting as it should)

After losing 140# in the last year, I knew I wanted a stunning costume...and this was it! It definitely turned heads and a few friends didn't even recognize me with the wig!Sizes are always so hard to determine so here's my data: 5'9", 170#, 34H. I got a large and it was perfect.The dress was long enough to dust the floor (wearing flats) but still looked okay with heels. The material was stretchy and consequently easy to move around in, though I had to slow down a bit on steps. I did have to wear a strapless bra but that wasn't a big deal. It was body hugging but not tight or slutty. I got lots of compliments, and was told the wig really made the costume. (Edited to add wig information:  Rbenxia Curly Cosplay Wig Long Hair Heat Resistant Spiral Costume Wigs Purple 32" 80cm )I can definitely see keeping this as a go-to costume.

This costume is such good quality, although I didn’t use the head piece it came with.. I felt it looked cheesy. So I curled my hair, bought a hairnet to put over my face, so I could put makeup on top of it for the scaled mermaid-skin effect (watch a YouTube tutorial!) & ordered a necklace made of real shells on amazon. I ordered a SIZE SMALL & it fit perfect, although it did come off the floor above my feet a few inches due to my height, it still looked great. I am 5’6”, 140lbs, bra size: 34B for reference. The bottom part is stretchy so you have some give if your hips are bigger. This costume is perfect.. I actually kept it so I can re-wear for future Halloween parties! 💕
