Great features, great value
Several great features. (1.) The blades screw off so the glass jug can be more easily cleaned. (2.) The jug is interchangeable with a smaller individual-sized container ("travel cups") so instead of buying a separate "bullet blender" this one blender can do both sizes. (One version of this blender comes with travel cup, another doesn't... at the time we bought this, the options were different and we bought the travel cups separately, but you can get them now for just a few dollars more and that's very much worth it. (3.) It's QUIET, compared to our old KitchenAid. (4.) Good value for this price point. I've used some very expensive ones >$300 and they do no better than this one. I've used inexpensive ones <$50 and they're loud and inconsistent and noticably not as good as this one.One thing to watch out for is that the jug/travel cups can fit only in one orientation and it's not easy to tell which is right, but that's a minor.

This worked great for about 10 smoothies and now it’s broken for no apparent reason. My husband has stage 4 cancer and I bought it as he can only have liquids. Apparently there’s no way to return it and this is the worst possible time to have to pay for another. I’m very upset.

NOT a long lasting product Shameful Waste
I really loved this blender and recommended it to clients. It has a glass jug and great power. I have used it maybe 20 times in the last 2 and a half years for pureeing soup only. However, the ring that sits on the motor is plastic and the connector kept breaking. There was a popping noise after I used it and soon I discovered little plastic parts... the plastic of the wheel that sits into the base. Without this, my beautiful blender will no longer work. So I have a good and powerful base, an intact glass jug and no wheel to get it to go. I tried calling the company and was on hold for way too long. Tried emailing and frankly I am not accepting any more cookies so could not get to the site. Another piece of equipment into the landfill, really a shameful waste for a part that should be easy to replace.

Bum Blender!
We had high hopes for this blender! Seemed to work great when we first got it. We do a lot of ice and frozen fruit crushing but reviews said it does this very well. However, we got it in January and by mid April it stopped working. We tested it and it seems to blend liquids but if you put anything else in it (ice, fruit, spinach) the blades won't blend (blades won't move at all). I called customer service and after some troubleshooting (basically me figuring out how to get the blades out!), was told I need a new blade. The bottom was shredded! Unfortunately, they said they had no idea when the part could ship from overseas. Could be days, weeks or months. Seeing as we use this every day for our morning smoothies, we are most likely going to have to now go and get a new blender. Customer service was quick and responsive, however the blender stinks. They said this is unusual, but we will be moving on and getting another brand. Maybe Ninja.

it's super powerful! I tried to make tahini for hummus ...
As long as you fill this blender up high enough, with enough liquid, it's super powerful! I tried to make tahini for hummus but there just wasn't enough volume, then there wasn't enough liquid (too thick, I mean). You have to fill it a few inches above the blades, with milkshake or thinner consistency. So anyway, once I figured that out and added enough water, this was amazing! The blender made everything super smooth. I made another batch of hummus later, just throwing sesame seeds and chickpeas and garlic and everything all together at once, before blending anything, and when it was done it was completely smooth. Not even a hint of a sesame seed. I can't believe how smooth and even it all was. It's a powerful machine, and easy to use, too. If you want to pulse, press the pulse button then hold down the speed you want. Press "pulse" again to turn off the pulse setting. Then press the speed you want and it will stay on until you turn it off. It is very simple. The only thing I don't like is having the buttons all under the jar full of liquid, which could spill on them. Otherwise I'm so stoked to have this blender! All I've had before have been cheap blenders that leave chunks of ingredients. This is a huge upgrade.

Way better than ninja.
This thing is awesome, WAAAY better than the ninja I had that this one is replacing. I definitely recommend the glass over the plastic jug though.Crushes ice spectacularly and turns a frozen avacodo with some liquid into a puree in about 10-15 secs.

Do not buy!
I bought this blender in 2018 and today -- for the second time in a year -- a portion of the plastic gear on the bottom of the glass jar broke off during use. I noticed that the part was broken when I removed the glass top and saw/smelled smoke coming from the gear area! Cheaply made. Don't waste your money.

Okay for basic blending.
So, I haven't really pushed the limits of this Braun JB7170 PureMix Countertop Jug Blender, and since I haven't the results I have gotten may be slightly skewed, especially if you are the kind of blender that is dropping chunks of ice and mortar into the thing. I have found the blender to be capable in blending and mixing basic foods and liquids. It is powerful enough to chop up fruits and shaved ice without issue. It has been pretty simple to use and clean. I find it to be good enough for my purposes and have had no problems. However, I have only used this machine sparingly.
