MoMA publication cheaps out. Buy it anyway.
First of all I'd like to say that BWBCanada shipped quite fast, far earlier than their delivery estimate. The book arrived in perfect condition. I would order from this seller again. As far as the book goes, I guess it's the best monograph on Kai Althoff so far, but it was a little disappointing. It has some unique approaches to the layout which I appreciated, and features many reproductions that I liked and did not expect. But I do not see the sense in cheaping-out by using so many black and white images, and quite horribly reproduced as well. There are many good colour images as well, but few full reproductions of my favourite Althoff paintings. Many detail crops. Often not even in colour. And this is a MoMA publication. Good interviews with the artist. On the whole the book is worth having, and it is quite a unique monograph. I saw a good exhibition of Althoff's at the Vancouver Art Gallery. I wish they had published a catalogue. They were going to. Anyway, buy the book at a discount. It is still worth perusing. Althoff is an exciting artist.
