BrainyDeal Ultrasonic Distance meter measurer
Simple to use and suitable for the average handy man who doesn't want pin point accuracy. Good value for money and certainly flexible enough to cover most larger D.I.Y measurements rather than pulling yards and yards of tape out. A good buy and quick delivery.

Able Assistant
This is a great little item that every DIY enthusiast should have in their tool box. This smart assistant is simple to use and provides instant and accurate measurements. If you wish to avoid all the frustrations of trying to control an unwieldy tape measure with a mind of its own, then this is the boy to have. Tip: place a small upright board at one end of a plank of wood and let BrainyDeal tell you the length from the other end.

Absolute crap! I'm moving and wanted a measuring device to measure for carpets, paint etc. Bought this one. Didn't realise it came from Singapore and would take around 3 weeks to arrive. Arrived during the move but wouldn't work. Couldn't mess around with sending it back so dumped it in the skip! Avoid.

great price
This is perfect for my needs. Measuring the home to develop some house remodelling options. Didn't want to buy top of the range device but did need the convenience of the device versus tape measure and the accuracy of measurement provided by the technology. Delighted.

Good for occasional use, with care.
Value: This is good for the price, if you need something for occasional use. Professional surveyors will not buy this. I would hope.Functionality:Worst bit first...Power save! This thing goes to sleep after a few seconds of not being used. Not 5 minutes, not 30 seconds.Nearer 5-10 seconds. It's very annoying, so I have to keep pressing the "laser" button just to keep it awake while I move to the next measuring spot, otherwise you have to go through 10 seconds of startup/initialising when you go to take a measurement. Grr.You have to be careful where you use it - hard surfaces are best, with no interfering things likes curtains/blinds, houseplants in the line of view or off to the side. I did a couple of test measurements and the accuracy was spot on in good conditions (it displays to 0.01m/1cm) BUT you need to give it a common sense check too because it can get thrown off for the reasons mentioned: if you are in a downstairs WC and it reads 8 metres, you might want to retake that!It is sonic not laser measuring, so it has a limit - so far good for about 11-12m on a clear run.The memory function is okay (3 memories) if you remember which position you stored it.The add/area and other functions may be useful but the buttons aren't very intuitive so I can never remember how to use them.Quality: The ultrasonic loudspeaker fell inside the unit after half a dozen jobs, but was quickly fixed back in with a bit of tape!Size: Be aware that this is quite a sizeable unit. It won't go in your jeans pocket without a fight. I imagined a small mobile-phone (Nokia 8210!) sized thing - but actually this is around 7 inches x 3 inches x 1.5 inches (more house brick), but thankfully pretty lightweight.

Good enough for the job Works well enough for me
Good enough for the jobWorks well enough for me, accurate enough and less effort than getting the tape out to measure a large room. Have used it a lot. The only annoying thing is the power save that is a bit too eager to save power at the expense of your patience. How much power can it use? Chill...

Poorly made and cheap, mine was faulty
Blue backlight was wonky, well it's cheap I thought, I can live with that.Measured a big room, value seemed OK at first, then thought about it, actually no it's that size in feet not metres. Changed to feet, nope, it's not a 52ft living room. Measured it again at the same spot, gave a different measurement. Again, different measurement.Measured a 2m hallway and got 4.6m, 5.1m, 5.6m in quick succession. Garbage. The laser pointer works though, so 1 extra star for that.Seller COZYSWAN offered me a full refund.
