Stopped my Plantar Fasciitis.....
These are sized like true American made shoes. Same as Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots. I wear Danner Ft. Lewis in size 11. I wear size 11 Brooks Beast Running Shoes. But These I wear 9.5 and they are perfect. Same size I wore 25 years ago in the Navy. I work the southern border and spend 8 to 16 hours a day on my feet. I have spent thousands of dollars on boots in the last year trying to deal with Plantar Fascittis. Well I finally went back to the old way. I wore these in the Navy and never had a problem. Well...... Of all the boots in this class these are the most comfortable and my feet have finally started to heal. These are NOT soft tactical boots. These are legit combat boots exactly like was issued from Vietnam up until the 90s. If you have tried custom insoles and every kind of sneaker boot like me. Try these they are well worth the money. I haven't chased down any fence jumpers in them yet, but that's the rarest part of my job anyway. I received these boots, oiled them with neatsfoot oil and wore them on a 16 hour shift right away. After a few days they softened up but on day 1, they took the pressure off my sore heels and arches. I wish I'd have ordered these a year ago. If you watch the line or spend hours on uneven concrete or rocks or asphalt, these boots are magic. Also if you blouse your pants these look great as they are 10 inch boots designed for that purpose.

Excellent boots. Just as I remember
I was issued these boots (for the first time) way back in August 2001, and hadn't worn a pair in nearly 20 years. Still remembered my boot size as 9 1/2W though. Been working a lot lately in wet and oily environments and remembered those boots as have good traction and build quality to stand up to the abuse I had and would be putting them through. When I received this order, they didn't quite seem like I remembered (materials seemed...different), and they felt a little big on me. Knowing there's a break-in period for them, decided to stick it out. Glad I did, cuz once I broke them in and picked up a few pairs of quality boot socks, these boots are just as I remember them; extremely high quality and perfect fit. Just give the toe a quick coat of black kiwi every night and they're good to go. Only thing that still feels different is the subtle Altama logo on the outboard heel, but pretty sure that's only cuz these are commercially sold as opposed to US Military contract.

COBAT BOOTS
Boots were nice but was too big & wide ,I blame myself ,I looked at the wrong older pair of my Son's shoes ,trying to be sneaky ,for a gift .

Almost the same as the ones I bought in 06.
Still great boots, just little different. Little bigger then the last time I bought a set, but if they hold up like the pair I bought in 06 and still using then it’s a damn good buy.

Not the same as the old ones
I've purchased this style of Altama boots for the last 30+ years. These were the issued boots for the U.S. Military and in years past were made in the U.S.A., but those days are gone. This pair of Altama boots were made in the Philippines. While they aren’t bad, the quality has dropped. The stitching is just not as tight and the seams leak water after just a few seconds of exposure to water. The old boots could be submerged in a bucket of water to help break them in and the interior would stay dry for a few minutes even with new, untreated leather. These fill with water instantly. The cut isn’t quite as precise as the old ones, but they still run true to size. The boots are still good boots for the money, but it’s important to know that some Altama boots are made in the U.S.A., and some are made outside the U.S.A. As always, this style of boot is not waterproof but can be very water resistant when broken in and the leather properly treated. If you need waterPROOF boots, buy something with Goretex. If you need a water-resistant boot that will break in and be comfortable for years – these are an affordable option. Be prepared to break them in, be prepared to treat the leather with Snowproof or some other product. They require some maintenance.I would still buy these boots at this price, but I would question them at any higher price. At this price point, there are competitors very close to providing better value.Edit- 12/28/24 : A few weeks of use and a little more broken in. I am sorry to report that these aren't half the boots they used to be when made in the U.S.A.They are adequate but I doubt I'll ever buy another pair at this price. The laces stretch far more than the old style laces. The leather is starting to break in and it has stretched more in a month than my old ones did over the life of the boot. The overall impression is that the quality dropped when they outsourced these to the Philippines.

Worth Every Penny
Been buying Altama boots for 20 years. So glad to see they made their way to Amazon.com. Was a little apprehensive when they moved manufacturing out of the U.S. to the Philippines about 5 years ago, but the quality has come back well. Never had a problem breaking them in, and if treated well, will last until the soles are flat.

The real deal.
I bought my first pair of these almost forty years ago at a military base in the Philippines.I've bought a replacement pair every decade or so.Cheaper alternatives are just that.

Boots are falling apart , is this what we should expect from altama
I dont know if this is a quality control issue or what. Boots came with weak spot in leather and questionable sole attachment and now its falling off. I chose altama because I've worn their boots for years and they have always been of good quality. I don't know if this is a fluke or what. I do know I needed boots, wanted them to work out and expected them to based on prior experience . Now the sole is falling off. Is this what we should expect of altama?
